Has anyone had long-term intermittent rectal bleeding that wasn't cancer, and from internal hemmorhoids or something else? Is there any way to know short of a colonoscopy? Thanks.

a visit to a protologist or GI doc would propably tell much after an internal manual exam.

Thanks Arrow. Does anyone think that a combination of fish oil, natural vitamin E or things like lecithin can cause bleeding of internal/external hemorrhoids? Also, if the color is bright red is that less cause for concern?

Yes on omega 3, fish oil, vitamin E, MSM, serrapeptase, nattokinase, and IP6. Also, all of the NSAIDS. I have experience with internal hemorrhoids. It is scary. Blood in stool occasionally, when I overdo those supplements. It protrudes each time I have a bowel movement; so I know the blood is coming from the hemorrhoid. Bright red. When I don't wipe carefully, the blood will drip for a while. I always push it back in, and most times, it stays until the next bowel movement.
MSM absolutely will affect you by thinning the blood, or at least making it flow freer. So will garlic. Maybe it's the sulfur. It is too bad. MSM is a very good health supplement.
I had these symptoms for most of my life, but only found out it was Crohn's disease three years ago. There is usually some pain involved, but I never had hardly any.
A colonoscopy and a good Gastroenterologist is about the only way to know what it is. There are a few possibilities other than Crohn's.
My bleeding did turn out to be a tumor in my colon and as some of you know-well I'm workin' on that still. However, the bleeding related to the tisue area down there can be remedied with Neem. I have used Neem cream (rhyme intended!) for quite some time for all sorts of skin related issues and tried it-you know-down there when I had a hemmorhoid forming. I would push Mr. Problem Area back up with the cream and in a couple of days-it would be gone.
A few years ago we were in Truckie, Calif. and some guy in a health food store recommended it. In our family we use it for all sorts of stuff now. Skin irritations, bug repellent, and I take it internally everyday.
