"stuffed-up" ear from a cold w/infected nasas congestion
Help!
Does anybody know a natural remedy on how to drain the inner ear? My right ear was clogged a few days ago and it went away the next morning when I woke up and blew my nose and it popped. I can't seem to make it pop again so it will drain. I have been having a cold/flu for almost two weeks now. I have never had a cold last this long and this bad before in my life and not to mention all the horrible symptoms--nasal congestion/infection--never had it, ears pops so much when I blow my nose--hard or gentle, covered one side or not, it's like fireworks! I have done nasal irrigating several times a day, and also use the nasal spray with xylitol, saline, and grapefruit seed extract--still can't seem to get rid of the darn infection and congestion. It's SO FRUSTRATING! And now my ear is 'stuffed-up" again!
I really think my immune system is jacked-up. Please, if anybody know a solution to the above problems, please do share. Thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge, it's much appreciated.

I would try colloidal silver. 30 ppm strength is available in little spray bottles in most health food stores. I heard a while ago that viruses live in the ears so I cover all bases and spray C.S. in my ears, sniff it up my nose as high as it will go and inhale as I spray my throat to also get it into my lungs. I've had good results with opening up my sinuses with it, but as bad as the inflammation is in yours, it may take a little time to get the swelling down. C.S. distribution is much better if put in a nebulizer and inhaled orally, breathed deeply into the nostrils and allowed to moisten deep inside each ear, but not everyone has a nebulizer.
I can't tell you what will work for your cold, but this is what I do right when I first feel one coming on, and it usually stops it right away. I take vitamin C to tollerance, or 2000 mg one hour apart till I've taken 4 doses. This usually stops the sinus drainage, but if not, I take 1000 vitamin C every hour or two. (Tollerance means that when you are saturated with vitamin C it will let you know by sending you to the bathroom.) I also really like anti-viral Sambucol elderberry syrup, 1 Tbsp every 4 hours. I also take echinacea and astragalus. Astragalus is an adaptogen that goes where ever help is needed in the system, so I take it anytime I don't feel well. I just follow directions on the labels for doseage but I try to buy standardized extracts whenever possible.
Good luck to you. Welcome aboard. By the way, my son-in-law is from Louisiana and I'm living with him and my daughter in Washington state. My daughter has adapted well and makes delicious jambalaya, gumbo and redbeans and rice to die for! She even made boudan sausage in the casings and all because you can't buy it here. She can taste something once and go home and make it...she's very gifted that way.
I hope this has been helpful.

Thanks Nightowl, I am surprise you track me down in this forum. I have been using astragulus, Immunify, and oregano tinture/drops and lots of Vit C, along with elderberry lozenges, and nasal irrigation/spray. The health food store is about 40 mins away from home and we only have one car and my fiance takes it to work. I told him to buy the CS spray then changed my mind and told him to buy the xylitol nasal spray instead, darn! He's very busy, his job is very demanding, and he doesn't get much free time to go anywhere.
Red bean and rice w/ sausage is our favorite, can I borrow your daughter-in-law for a day? She is gifted if she can make homemade sausage.

Hi TML,
I forgot to check back to this thread so just noticed your comment about my tracking you down. I have no idea who you are or if I've bumped into you before, but I do have an interest in the subject matter so may have posted my thoughts in another forum. You mentioned a lot of the supplements that I usually recommend so I must have made an impression. I hope you are better by now. Don't worry, my short-term memory doesn't work well enough to track anyone!

Hi nightowl, I hope you didn't misunderstand me, but obviously confused. I didn't mean it like that, I guess I should have used a better word; it was a good surprise that's all. I so appreciate you for giving me all the suggestions.
I am much better, still have a slight sinus with postnasal drainage that doesn't seems to go away no matter what I do. You did make an impression--a good one, thanks for asking.
Well, my son is sick again, hopefully I won't catch another cold from him again. I really need to work on building my immune system--make it normal and healthy so does his. Take care!

I have had post-nasal drip most of my life. I am alergic to so many things, especially my daughter's hair spray and perfumes. She knows it and still wears it...so it's time to get my owm place. There goes all that good Cajun food! Good luck avoiding the cold from your son! My granddaughter has one too and I worry about my COPD. But usually I can keep a cold at bay. Take care!
