A bottom molar, right hand side.... The pain in the side of my head is really really bad... I have never done pain pills after a tooth was pulled, but this time the pain is really bad... but its not just in my mouth, The pain goes up my jawline, and up the side of my head. Does that mean the infection was that bad??? I took two pain pills about an hour ago, and soaked in a hot tub, hoping that would in some way help... To be honest, holding a hot wash cloth on the side of my face seemed to help alot.... Seemed to ease the pain.... So my question... will a heating pad hurt me or will it help me.. I know the dentist had said to use cold packs before the tooth was pulled, to help lessen the pain, but now that the tooth is gone... the ice seemed to hurt the side of my face... my face is real sensitive to touch..... Can I use a heating pad or will that make matters worse in the long run???? thanks for the help...

Just me, if your experience is that cold applications worsen the pain, and heat helps a lot, I would have to say that it's nature's way of telling you what helps.
Use heat and feel better for it.
So many times people tell me that a dentist or osteopath or chiropractor has said "Use a cold pack - buy this one" when the person suffering knows instictively that heat is comforting.
I know there are intellectually sound reasons for recommending a cold application, but if it makes pain worse and the patient more miserable - why do it? The body will do its own repair in time, so the patient needs relief of a symptom in the short term.
Thanks Xania for the help.... Once the hydrocodones and the kava kicked in all the way, I was able to get some sleep... The heating pad helped alot too.... This was a strange one... I have had teeth pulled before, but never felt the pain I felt last night. Normally, I dont even need pain meds or aspirin or anything... but this time a totally different story!!! Well, finally all my teeth are fixed, so hopefully that is the end to those problems.... Feeling pretty much back to normal today.. I greatly appreciate the info, and the fact that you are always willing to give feedback... You are an awesome lady!!!!!

I would use a mild solution of MMS where the molar used to be.
Perhaps a six-drop solution twice per day.
It probably won't help with the pain, but would be great to prevent infection, and speed up healing.

Thanks pbd, I am using the mms... Started back on that about a day after the pain started back up... I just always assumed that pain in teeth meant infection....so knowing I was going to have to wait to get into the dentist office, not only did I restart the mms, but also started gargleing with iodine...The dentist said that was a very smart move!!!

Have you tried 1 tylenol + 3 advils? That combo helps my toothache pain. I went to the dentist today also. I had a titanium threaded stud embedded. In 2 or 3 months I'll have a crown attached. So far, the anesthetic hasn't worn off. I am swishing with MMS. I told my 7th Day dentist about sodium chlorite and he seemed impressed.

Honestly, I stuck with the hydrocodone... it worked really really well... Still using the mms... and so far all seems well... He did tell me to be very careful, since this was a bottom tooth, gravity was going to work against me, and that since it was so deep, he couldnt stitch it (I think thats what he said??) but am being very careful, and it seems to be healing well... I am thinking the mms is helping alot!!!

The MMS should do what ozone would do according to my information and understanding, and if that is the case, MMS will only cause benefit -- no infections, faster healing, and absolutely no bacteria.

Ozone can cause new enamel to layer and fill in the tooth. I doubt MMS can do that. One of these days we'll get to have ozone dentistry here in the US. It can be found in a couple of places.
