How to post pictures on the forum
Sometimes we need to post a picture or diagram to illustrate a topic. Sometimes we just want fun. I am posting this little tutorial because I know one of our number has some fun to share with us on the Humor thread, but is not sure how it works. (I took this text from another forum. Substitute the word Emoticon for any picture you want to use.) Here goes.
Q. "How do I use those animated emoticons you are all so fond of?" A. You will need to sign up (free and easy) for a Photobucket account . You can do this at https://photobucket.com EMOTICON TUTORIAL right-click on any emoticon you want and click save as.. save to folder of your choice (reccomend making one for this) go to photobucket and log in, then click browse find the emoticon you saved to your computer, click it and then hit submit on photobucket page To POST - scroll down in Photobucket and click Img below the emoticon (the text in the box beside it will then be highlighted), then right-click on the highlighted text and COPY go to the box where you type your posts here and right-click and paste it where you want it. Post your message as normal (preview first if you want to make sure it worked) |

When I made this thread "sticky" it lost most of it's posts. So sorry about that. I have looked for them. There werre some valuable posts from Bifrost, Mad and others, who included useful information.
IF those kind people feel like repeating what they had written, it would be a valuable contribution to this topic. Sorry to give you this chore - it just happened! |

From the archive and updated additional photo instructions:
First go to photobucket.com as Xania suggested and create an account. They will email you a confirmation link. Visit that link to activate your account. However first you will need to scan your prints or load your digital images to your computer. (I use a program called infanview is allows you to crop, change size, rotate, fiddle with color correction, etc., etc. https://www.irfanview.com/ Like photobuckets this is also a free service.) Your pictures should be resized to about 400 pixels wide or less and saved as jpg files. This keeps the picture to a reasonable size. When you save as a jpg file you usually have the option to save at different quality levels. Avoid using the highest quality level as the file size increases greatly. When you have your images ready, log on to your photobucket account. There you will see a page with a box in the middle with three buttons labeled "Browse". Clicking on a Browse button allows you to look at your computer files for the image you wish to upload to photobucket. When you find it select it with the mouse and click the "Open" button. The name will appear next to the Browse button. You can add additional pictures by clicking on the other Browse buttons. Then click the "upload it" button. This will upload your picture(s) to your image gallery on photobucket, this may take a moment or two. The picture will appear below as a thumbnail and below the thumbnail are links to the picture. Click in the link to highlight the link. Then go to edit & select and click on "copy". When you create a new post in the forum you can insert the link by clicking "Paste". There are three links or addresses below each picture on Photobucket: URL, Tag and IMG. The URL can be copied and pasted into a post but it will need the reader to click on it to open it and show the picture. With the IMG link the picture will automatically appear in the post and the reader will not have to click on it. Xania this is one of my toys. |

It is a replica of 1952 MG, Xania you have the chance to see a few real ones running around by you.
I built it 1981, a couple years ago it was starting to show its age and one thing led to another and I wound up totally rebuilding it. I belong to a car club and take it to a number of shows each year. |

On this new forum, you can directly upload the pictures when you make a post, the maximum file size is 100K, image size is 1024x768, it should be enough for most cases. Some other file types can be attached to your post too, such as txt, doc, pdf, zip, etc.

This is a photo Test! A photo of me, enhanced by selective shading to eliminate appearances of age!
