Community Blog Idea

Hi All,

There have been many great discussions on this forum, but some of them are getting too long and the best answers may be found only on the 2nd or 3rd page. This gave me the idea to start a community blog, on which we can post all the things that worked out for us. Also, Blog is more suitable for sharing experience, and forums are basically for asking for help.

But this is just my idea, I'm not sure if you, valuable members of this forum, would be interested to post on the blog. I would like to see some feedbacks before I start it.

Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Would this also attract some new members to our little group? How would it work? Sorry, but I am not well versed in blogs versus forums, so a little education would be helpful for me, maybe for some others too.

Is it to be in a continuous stream - or set out in topics!

The Blog would be independent from this forum, we will use a new domain name.

Blogs have been very popular on the Internet in the past a few year, many big sites now have a Blog section.

A Blog is usually written by one person, it's like a column on the newspaper, or a diary if you only intend to write for yourself.

Regular posting is very important, so it's much easier to build a hot blog if it's written by a group of members.

Everyone can post after registration, but very few blog visitors will write blogs, they add comments to the existing articles instead.

The blog posts will be categorized by topics (or authors), you can post anything you want.

As you can see, forum is a community, every visitor can start a topic. Blog is like an e-zine, the owners of the blog write the posts, or articles if they are not too short.

I hope you can get the basic idea with my very brief introduction.

Would like to see more feedback from other members.

You can input some words (usually two) to view the availabilities of the desired domains. For example: If you input "health blog", you can see that healthblog.com, healthblog.org, etc. have been registered.

Personally I prefer xxx.com and xxx.org names.

May I have a few wandering thoughts?

If we want the words alternative health, that seems to excude more "usual" medical means. I think many of us are fairly comprehensive as well as holistic in our approaches to health care.
We recognise the dangers and draw-backs of standard medical treatments, yet we don't exclude them totally from our regimes

So what kind of people are we, on this forum? Do we want a blog name to represent who we are, or does it represent something other.

Definitely needing guidance on this

I think the name should suggest what the blog is about. Alternative health is probably a bit limited, we can always use it as the primary topic category if the posts are ended only about alternative health.

The blog will have an "About Us" page, on which we can describe "who we are" in details.

just me: that sounds great but needs to be a bit creative, as these names are hot and have been registered long time ago.

Could mean a lot of things.

Don�t know much about blogs. But willing to learn. Is it similar to a bog and have something to do with swamps or marshes? Or am I all wet?

As far as picking a name how about:
Health Watchers Anonymous, or HealthNuts-R-Us
or maybe
Contemplating Dignitaries Coffeehouse or Conversationalist Disorderly Co-operative or Augmentative Medical Applications

Which could then be shortened to �CDC� or �AMA�.

P.S. None of these need to be taken too seriously.
