Advice needed! Multiple Vitamin for female teen?
Hi Gals and Guys!
My almost 16 grandaughter has asked me if there is a good all-round Multi Vitamin that she can take - either once or twice a day? She's quite active in sports - recently recovering from her second leg/ankle fracture in less than 2 years, while playing soccer. I think her allopathic Doc IS having her take Calcium. Anyway, I'm concerned, so I would appreciate some imput here. Thanks from a worried Grandma |

Ultra Vitamin VM-33 from Puritan's Pride has a fairly comprehensive formula. If she's taking extra calcium she should boost her magnesium and zinc also. Given her propensity to break bones, another thing to consider is her potassium-sodium intake ratio. Most Americans get too much sodium and too little potassium.

Teen Multi
Thanks Varki, I'll check into those. Also, with her high
athletic level and young age, I want to ask her about her menstrual periods too - intensity, etc. and consideration of Iron. I need to find out more about her eating habits - likes/dislikes. In the past she's never eaten very much at one time. Also, after reading Mercola, I'm wondering about Vit K2, for better Calcium absorption. If her computer privileges have been returned to her, I may be able to keep up a dialogue with her after Thanksgiving. She does Not live with her mother/my daughter. Thanks again for your help. have a Happy Thanksgiving |

Hi
Calcium Citrate is widely known to be essential for the formation of strong bones and therefore integral to this Bone Health Supplement. Vitamin D3 is necessary for Calcium absorption and utilization. Boron supports Vitamin D3 functions by activating Vitamin D3. Copper deficiency is linked to osteoporosis, therefore inclusion in this Bone Health Supplement is essential. Silicon, Zinc and Magnesium are important minerals involved in bone formation and osteoporosis prevention. A Complete Multivitamin Mix provides a broad base of nutrients for this Bone Health Supplement.
Drugs may interact with herbs, and even vitamins and minerals, causing adverse reactions. The first step in avoiding drug-vitamins interactions is to know where the risks are. You can avoid Supplement-Drug interaction at Mitamins. Please note that this is not to be taken as medical advice. If you are seeking treatment, please contact your healthcare professional. |

It's not a multiple, but I like MK-7 Vit-K, which supposedly helps nourish bones and helps prevent hardening of the arteries. It's derived from natto. I use the Jarrow product.

With the above references to bone health, Vit K, Natto, etc. I have a question about osteoporosis which is, maybe, better asked on the prostate cancer thread.

Sydney's bone health
Thanks you all, for the additional info for Syd's bone health.
I like and trust Jarrow's products so will look into these and maybe add to my next shipment to her. |
