Default I use the F word frequently!

And I was down at church saturday helping get ready for our local greek festival and this guy (75 yrs old) pulled out his afternoon pills to take. I said it as a reflex action. He had 12 different pills! He also complains of getting leg cramps in the evening, so I went home and grabbd a package of eden foods organic pumpkin seeds. (3.5 servings per packet, 50 % daily requirement magnesium per serving) and kept giving some throught the day where he had about 3/4 of the package downed. I saw him this morning and asked and he said he was cramp free the last 2 nights.

pumpkin seeds will get rid of leg cramps?

What about taking magnesium supplements? Or is it safer and better to just take foods that are naturally high in magnesium?

I used to get horrible cramps in the calf of my legs. Still do if I don't take a
daily magnesium capsule - 400mg or higher. However, i also add some Zinc
every other day. I eat all kinds of the right foods containing magnesium, but
I think some people just need more than can be gotten in foods.
I guess i'm one of them.

Hello everybody,

For people who have deficiency symptoms (muscle cramps, muscle aches, insomnia, irregular heartbeat), taking a good magnesium supplement can really help. Although there are many good forms of supplemental magnesium, magnesium citrate is probably the easiest to find. Taking 200-600 milligrams a day (typically 200 mg. per capsule or caplet) can help tremendously.
In addition to supplemental magnesium, it's a very good idea to increase your consumption of magnesium rich foods. Some good choices include leafy green veggies (kelp, spinach, collards, kale), pumpkin seeds (thanks saved1986 ), black beans, white beans, and navy beans.
Have a great day.

You can also get transdermal magnesium with a mag oil or spray.. apparently it gets into the system better as it avoids the digestive tract and wont cause loose stools.
