ST,
I threw the
VitaCost product out there because I think it's a good, generalized anti-aging product. It's provides a decent balance between convenience, cost and composition.
When I try to put together supplement programs for friends and family members ... the better the program is ... the more complicated it is. And that often isn't acceptable for the people I'm trying to help.
Heck, even my own supplement program is pretty complicated. I wish it weren't so but it's hard to find the "right" balance of what I think I need.
Anyhow, to answer your initial questions:
Quote:
so.. what other anti-aging supplements would you recommend? how about vitamin D?
what would be a good "combo" for helping those who are hearing the drums of time beating a bit louder these days?

I think these supplements are worth considering (this is not a comprehensive list):
I think most people would benefit from more:
1. Magnesium - The best form, IMO, would be the magnesium taurinate form. It not only provides magnesium but the taurine helps to manage blood pressure, raise HDL cholesterol and may prevent/improve irregular heartbeats. Magnesium citrate is less-expensive and effective but lacks the taurine-effect.

2. CoQ10
3. Vitamin K2 - I'd go with the MK-7 form.

4. Fish Oil
5. B-Complex -
Vitacost has an excellent product that provides extra thiamine (B-1) and high-levels of B12 in the
methylcobalamin form.

6. Mitochondrial support -
Vitacost also has a good product that contains alpha lipoic acid, carnitine, CoQ10 and more that help to combat decreased cellular energy that occurs with aging.

7. Vitamin D - unless you get adequate sun-exposure.
8. Vitamin C - spread-out as best as possible
9. Multivitamin/mineral - to cover the basics (selenium, zinc, vitamin A, E, etc.)
10.
Pycnogenol, Pomegranate and Green Tea. There's excellent research to support their use for aging and far-beyond.
11. Possibly Resveratrol. If it works, at the dosages provided, it could be very beneficial.
I'm sure I'm leaving out other worthy candidates. But, hopefully this is at least a start.
