under 2's glue ear
Has anyone any up to date information on this distressing problem in infants please. The child has allergies for certain foods inc. milk, hearing is not good, pain with fluid in ears. Otherwise bright energetic child. I would be most grateful if anyone has found an answer apart from gromets, which will be a last resort.

First of all you must eliminate all things the child is allergic to and be aware many babies are also allergic to soy. Powdered goats milk works for some that are allergic to cows milk.
Flush the ear with full strength hydrogen peroxide that you get from the drug store. Do this twice a day. Lay the baby on his side so the peroxide can stay in for a couple of minutes. It will bubble and be noisy and may scare the baby but I have never known it to hurt Lymphatic massage helps some. start behind the ear and draw your hand down along the neck just under the corner of the jaw bone then straight on down the neck. Do this several times a day. Has the baby been taking antibiotics for this? Some people have also found flushing the ear with colloidal silver to be helpful and it certainly has helped my dog with his ear infections. But unless you make your own colloidal silver peroxide is cheaper and quite effective. Ultimately, to eliminate the allergies a visit to a homeopath will do the job. It is really better not to treat with anything and just go to the homeopath so he can see the full symptom picture for remedy selection. I have cured many ear infections in children with homeopathic medicine and some allergy cases also.
