But while the arrival of gray hair is relatively predictable, how and why hair ages this way is not well understood. Unlocking those secrets could have potential well beyond vanity, leading to a better understanding of the aging process at the cellular level. Scientists even hope that by identifying the mechanism that kills hardy hair-pigment cells and leaves us awash in gray, they can develop new treatments for shutting down more troublesome cells like those that cause skin cancer.
The Anti-Gray Hair Vitamin
One very interesting application for this versatile substance is its potential to restore hair to its natural color. In 1941, Dr. B. F. Sieve reported that administration of 200 mg of PABA per day for two months resulted in marked darkening of the hair in 30 patients with gray hair. (15) Brandaleone and colleagues (1944) reported that 2 of 33 individuals with grey hair had significant hair color change when administered 200 mg of PABA with 100 mg of calcium pantothenate (vitamin B5) and 50 grams (approx. 2 ounces) of brewers yeast for eight months. (16)
Dr. Chris Zarafonetis (1964) of Temple University followed these investigations with a report that described 5 cases of dramatic hair color change and hair regrowth in 20 patients with markedly gray hair, who were taking 6-24 grams of PABA per day for other conditions. (17) The hair color changes were serendipitous results of this therapy.Zarafonetis concluded that consumption of 6-24 grams of PABA per day for at least 6 weeks restored the natural hair color of 25% of people with markedly gray hair. He did not speculate on the mechanism for hair color restoration and pointed out that the effects were highly variable and might require extended periods of administration.
Zvak (1986) confirmed that forty years ago, large doses of PABA were clearly shown to darken grey hair; the regained color was lost within 3-4 weeks of stopping the treatment.(18) While it is clear that the hair color restoration effects of PABA were less than universal, any therapy which results in 10-25% reversal of an irreversible condition (like hair grayness) must certainly be considered significant.
That is not the reason hair turns grey, however, it did make me laugh, so thanks for that.
If hydrogen peroxide was the cause, then hair would turn grey uniformly. It wouldn't start around the temples and slowly work its way up. Interesting theory though.
The real reason hair turns grey is because of free radical damage. Everything you do causes free radicals, and if you don't take antioxidants to offset the damage, you age. Simple as that. That includes wrinkles, sagging skin, and yes... grey hair.
The good news is that grey hair can be reversed back to its natural color, without chemicals or dyes. The secret is antioxidants from dark fruit. Just eating the fruit isn't going to change your hair color, but if you take extracts and fruit concentrated powders, and you take enough to EXCEED THE DAMAGE, then it will make a difference.
My grey hair has nearly changed back to the origional color, so I know this works.
Also, I don't exactly have the perfect diet, but its working anyway.

My friend turned her hair back to dark after taking Oz minerals. She took a lot of them. I think the FDA may have shut Oz down.

Please share your recipe/routine with us, i.e., the brand name of the various supplements you take and the amounts and schedule of consumption so that the rest of us can age a little more gracefully!!!
my husband said marriage is what turned his hair gray. That he never had a gray hair until he married me.
His hair is white now.
I like blonds.

Reason: corrected spelling of marriage (what would Freud say about my mispelling this particular word? I bet Freud had gray hair)
But the real problem here is not turning gray but keeping it from falling out at that point any color is good.
My husband is Republican!!! Very conservative. what can I say.. opposites attract. Perhaps our political "discussions" had something to do with the color change.
About the hair falling out.. my husband always had a full head of hair except for a small circle on the top of his head. I always told him it was a shame he wasn't jewish, because a Kippah (skull cap) would have fit perfectly on his head.
however, when he went through chemo for his follicular lymphoma, he shaved his head when his hair started falling out. It was quite a shock at first.. my son, who is 18, had never seen his dad without a full head of hair and a beard!
However, I kind of like the change, now that I've gotten used to it. I think justme had something when she said that she thought bald men were very sexy!
My mom, who is 87 has her naturally light brown hair, a few white hairs in the temples.
Her mom died at 99 and also had almost all her natural light brown hair as well.
I am 60 and could count my white hairs as they are so few.
I think it's genes, or maybe lack of fish, as all of us hate fish! Mom has a diet of sweet rolls, ice cream, hamburgers & she never took any vitamins. She's very healthy! very active.

Its really quite simple. In order to reverse hair back to its origional color, the damage must be exceeded by using antioxidants from fruit and berry extracts. I am talking about concentrated powders that you find in health food stores, and "greens" products, that have very high ORAC values.
It is not possible to eat enough fruit and berries to reverse the damage done to your cells. However, it is possible to take a couple scoops per day of a concentrated extract powder.
The one I use contains blueberry, goji berry, acai, acerola cherry, grape seed, pomegranate, paraguay, guarana seed, elderberry, cupuacu, cranberry, bilberry, and raspberry.
The greens product is called "Greens +" and contains several ingredients, including organic barley, alfalfa, wheat grass, red beet powder, spirulina, chlorella, resveratrol, full spectrum grape extract, green tea extract, atlantic dulse powder, and several other high potency extracts.
Aside from the above, I take several additional supplements, at very high doses, and plan on living to age 150, in good health, and I'm not joking.

I believe a can of spray paint from the local hardware store might also be used to restore hear color plus you could choose just about any color you want and when dry the wind would not be able to blow your hear style around nor would you need to be continually recombing it. Who couldpossiblyask for more?
