unknown digestion problem
Hi all!
I am new in this forum and the reason I am joining in is because I am in desperate need of help. I guess I should just talk straight about my problem, or should I say my daddy's problem. My dad is 49 years old this year and so far he has not been diagnosed with any serious diseases. Honestly speaking, he has not been going for any regular medical check-ups or anything like that. He has normal lifestyle, meaning sometimes he can go for regular jogging three times a week but there are times when he turns lazy and doesnt do any exercises at all. He is a super hardworking father who cares so much about his children and he can get so easily stressed about stuff. like for instance, 2 weeks ago, my sister ( 16years old ) didnt come back home after her friend's birthday bash at a club. My dad stayed awake until around 5am and he got stomachace and so he went to toilet. He said that he discharged some faeces and then followed by a stream of fresh blood. However, he claimed that he did not feel any pain or irritation at all. Besides, this discharge of blood only occurs everytime he finishes poo-ing and it happens only when he is very stressed. Therefore, it can happen like once a month or maybe less than that. Also, may I add that this blood only comes out one time. So lets say that the blood is released when he goes to the toilet in the morning; in the afternoon of the same day when he needs to go to the loo again, there will be no blood at all. Both my mother and I are veryvery confused and scared at the same time. At first we took this matter lightly. However, I just heard about some colon cancer and stuff. So yea. Does anyone have any ideas of what this disease might be? I am looking forward to hear from you soon. oh and I am sorry for the very long-winded post. Thank you! Stella |

Anytime there is blood I think of GI bleed, cancer or hemmorhoids. He needs to get it checked out. They will probably check his stool and do a rectal examine.

Yeah, I agree - he should see a doctor about this, so he can rule out anything serious.

This is something that is difficult to diagnose because there are so many possibilities.
One possibility is Crohn's disease, or Ulcerative Colitis. These can be triggered by stress. Since I have Crohn's disease, I am familiar with these symptoms. There are also a dozen other possible causes, and a few of them are serious. Have him go see a Gastroenterologist. A GP will likely just waste your time. It takes an expert to diagnose these type of problems. Good Luck Dan |

Hello Dan!
Firstly, thank you so much for your insightful reply. I really appreciate it. I have done some research on the mentioned diseases and I think my dad might be suffering from mild Ulcerative Colitis since the symptoms look very similar. I am currently looking around for a reliable doctor. Meanwhile, May I ask you a few questions? What medications have you taken so far and is it really not possible to cure it completely? Thank you again! Stella |

I took MMS to get rid of my symptoms. Then I started a prescription for Low Dose Naltrexone to correct the immune system dysfunction that causes all of the other problems.
I do not consider myself cured, but I am symptom free most all of the time. I guess I would have to somehow permanently fix the immune system to call it a cure. It is the nearest I can get to a cure at this time. Dan |
