Default Multiple medical issues under control

My 87 yr old father broke his hip in june and a few days later emphysema reared its head (he quit cigs 20 yrs ago), also congestive heart failure popped up and a conduction abnormality which needed a pacemaker.

I was told he would need oxygen for ever and the disease will progress. I started reading on alternatives and here is what has helped him:

1) Cordyceps (used in traditional chinese medicine for many things, including emphysema)
2) CoEnzyme Q10
3) Probiotics seems to have helped also, but gives him the runs.
4) I was giving him high dose Vitamin A for a week, but cut it out because even though there is evidence it will do a slight reversal of emphysema, it also weakens bones, I will start him off again on it in about 5-6 months.

If your dad was my dad, I'd make sure he took at least 5000 mg of vitamin C throughout the day (in divided doses) and a minimum 4000 I.U. of D3.

Co Q10 has to be in the unoxidized form to be of any value, due to his age.

Just open one of the gel caps, if it is orange it is oxidized, and he won't be able to convert it. Therefore, he needs Co Q10 in ubiquinol form. (white or light color)

For his emphysema, I would suggest several natural antifungals, such as olive leaf extract, grapefruit seed extract, and would get him to nebulize a small amount of colloidal silver per day. The silver should be at least 10 ppm, and should be clear and have a neutral pH.

Also Taurine and cayenne pepper for his heart, along with lots of potassium, magnesium, and vitamin E as mixed tocopherols.

That would be a good start.

He is taking a high dose potassium and I give him Mag and calcium. Thanks for the Co Q orange tip. I will switch brands. He eats fruit, but I will up his Vit C by supplementation. He is not a fan of hot peppers (I devour them).

I give him vitamin e inthe form of palm tocotrienols in which the capsules also have tocopherols and I give him (depending on what bottle I grab first) either a 100 mg CoQ (gel caps and they are orange) or 2 X 30 mg Jarrow formula CoQ which also has 4 IU of gamma tocopherol. I have narrowed it down to the CoQ and or the cordyceps. The cordyceps is definitely working and I think the CoQ is also. I also have about about 10 caps left of Pharmaton capsules (gelcap multi with a standardized ginseng extract) but I read one article that says do not give ginseng to emphysema patients, I have read other articles that say the opposite.
