Thumbs up No US citizen will be Forced to take SF Vac

I heard a speech yesterday given by President Obama that no
US citizen will be forced to get the H1N1 vaccine. They will be
encouraged to get it, but NOT forced to. Sorry, I don't remember
where he was when he gave the speech, but it was on either the
national evening news or PBS.

Seems to be true about no compulsion to take the vaccine.

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT
ON 2009-H1N1 NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE
Rose Garden

2:13 P.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT: Good afternoon, everybody. Before I say a few words about the meeting we just had I'd like to mention some good news that came out today about our economy. For the first time in 18 months, our manufacturing sector has expanded, and the statistics used to measure manufacturing output is the highest it's been in over two years.
This means greater production of transportation equipment like cars, and electronic equipment like computers and appliances, and it means these companies are starting to invest more and produce more, and it is a sign that we're on the path to economic recovery.
There's no doubt that we have a long way to go, and I and the other members of this administration will not let up until those Americans who are looking for jobs can find them. But this is another important sign that we're heading in the right direction, and that the steps we've taken to bring our economy back from the brink are working.
Now, we just had a good meeting about our ongoing efforts to prepare this country for the H1N1 flu virus this fall. And I want to thank John Brennan, our CDC Director Tom Frieden, and Secretaries Sebelius, Napolitano, Duncan, and Locke, for all the good work that they've been doing to get us ready today.
As I said when we saw the first cases of this virus back in the spring, I don't want anybody to be alarmed, but I do want everybody to be prepared. We know that we usually get a second, larger wave of these flu viruses in the fall, and so response plans have been put in place across all levels of government. Our plans and decisions are based on the best scientific information available, and as the situation changes, we will continue to update the public.
We're also making steady progress on developing a safe and effective H1N1 flu vaccine, and we expect a flu shot program will begin soon. This program will be completely voluntary, but it will be strongly recommended.
For all that we do in the federal government, however, every American has a role to play in responding to this virus. We need state and local governments on the front lines to make antiviral medications and vaccines available, and be ready to take whatever steps are necessary to support the health care system. We need hospitals and health care providers to continue preparing for an increased patient load, and to take steps to protect health care workers. We need families and businesses to ensure that they have plans in place if a family member, a child, or a co-worker contracts the flu and needs to stay home.
And most importantly we need everyone to get informed about individual risk factors, and we need everyone to take the common-sense steps that we know can make a difference. Stay home if you're sick. Wash your hands frequently. Cover your sneezes with your sleeve, not your hands. And take all the necessary precautions to stay healthy. I know it sounds simple, but it's important and it works.
Finally, for people who want to learn more about this virus, please go to www.flu.gov, or talk to your doctor.
I want to commend every member of our team. I think we've done an extraordinary job in preparing for this flu outbreak. We anticipate that there will be some issues coming up over the next several months. The way it's moving is still somewhat unpredictable, but what I'm absolutely confident about is that our team that's assembled here has done an extraordinary job in preparing for whatever may happen.
So we appreciate all of you for being here, and I want to publicly again thank you for all your extraordinarily hard work. All right.
END

Massachusetts' pandemic response bill

"Pandemic Response Bill" 2028 was passed by the Massachusetts state Senate on April 28 and is now awaiting approval in the House.
As stated in the bill, upon declaration by the governor that an emergency exists that is considered detrimental to public health or upon declaration of a state of emergency, a local public health authority, with approval of the commissioner, may exercise the following authorities (emphasis added):
  • to require the owner or occupier of premises to permit entry into and investigation of the premises;
  • to close, direct, and compel the evacuation of, or to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated any building or facility, and to allow the reopening of the building or facility when the danger has ended;
  • to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated, or to destroy any material;
  • to restrict or prohibit assemblages of persons;
  • to require a health care facility to provide services or the use of its facility, or to transfer the management and supervision of the health care facility to the department or to a local public health authority;
  • to control ingress to and egress from any stricken or threatened public area, and the movement of persons and materials within the area;
  • to adopt and enforce measures to provide for the safe disposal of infectious waste and human remains, provided that religious, cultural, family, and individual beliefs of the deceased person shall be followed to the extent possible when disposing of human remains, whenever that may be done without endangering the public health;
  • to procure, take immediate possession from any source, store, or distribute any anti-toxins, serums, vaccines, immunizing agents, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical agents or medical supplies located within the commonwealth as may be necessary to respond to the emergency;
  • to require in-state health care providers to assist in the performance of vaccination, treatment, examination, or testing of any individual as a condition of licensure, authorization, or the ability to continue to function as a health care provider in the commonwealth;
  • to waive the commonwealth's licensing requirements for health care professionals with a valid license from another state in the United States or whose professional training would otherwise qualify them for an appropriate professional license in the commonwealth;
  • to allow for the dispensing of controlled substance by appropriate personnel consistent with federal statutes as necessary for the prevention or treatment of illness;
  • to authorize the chief medical examiner to appoint and prescribe the duties of such emergency assistant medical examiners as may be required for the proper performance of the duties of office;
  • to collect specimens and perform tests on any animal, living or deceased;
  • to exercise authority under sections 95 and 96 of chapter 111;
  • to care for any emerging mental health or crisis counseling needs that individuals may exhibit, with the consent of the individuals
State and local agencies responding to the public health emergency would be required to exercise their powers over transportation routes, communication devices, carriers, public utilities, fuels, food, clothing and shelter, according to the legislation.
How many rights are we willing to be allowed to be trampled on, all in the name of public safety?

And it seems that states can make their own rules... as New York State has done requiring ALL healthcare workers to be vaccinated for H1N1. so freedom for all but some are more free than others. I cannot say enough how many nurses are against flu vaccination in general and this on in particular. The New York State Nurses association disapproves of mandatory vaccine. Some people may loose their jobs over this.

All the laws necessary are in place on state and federal level to incarcerate those who wish to defy the system if the system chooses to get nasty or have sufficient paranoia, in regard to vaccination or quarantine.

Here is an interesting scenario. Lets say a pandemic is declared and these NY nurses that refuse to be vaccinated lose their jobs. Then what if the rest of the nurses then had the courage to say we quit until you bring them back and what if the doctors then said without the nurse we will not work!

I know that is a lot of what ifs. But I wonder how the powers that be would handle a situation like that?

Well, I'm still hoping for the best w/Pres Obama's statement. I mailed
3 bottles of Vit D3 to a grandaughter yesterday who's a college freshman
in hopes she'll not be taking tjhe H!N! flu vaccine. I told her to take 2 caps
daily, unless there's an outbreak at school; then she should up it to 3 or 4
caps daily. She still lives at home - no dorms.

The "no forced" vaccination will change when the WHO declares the H1N1 to be a threat.

When that happens, and it will, you will have no choice and no rights.

It is my prediction that war, economy, and forced vaccination will cause riots in the streets unlike anything that has been seen before.

Only then will the world change.

I don't really think that is going to happen. This flu is proving to be fairly benign, just culling the weakest of us, as all flu does every year.

I will maintain that having the flu for most people is generally a good thing. It will build your immune system, like a training exercise, for the next. Now just why do you think that younger people are more susceptible to this H1N1 than older? Perhaps because older people went through the swine flu of 76 and many other flu throughout their lifetime. Their immune system is well trained.

Pregant women should be really careful. If I were pregnant I would not even go out. They seem to be very high risk statistically.

Most of the younger people who died from the H1N1 were already compromised with other disorders, such as cerebral palsy, MS, or were mentally retarded.

This is no ordinary flu, it was man-made... of that I am sure.
