Default Krill Oil vs. BPH Testimonial

For the last several weeks, my dad's been taking 2 grams of krill oil per day - one gram with breakfast and one gram with dinner.

I recommended that he give this a try because he's been having to wake up several times a night - despite taking a "prostate formula" and an assortment of other nutritional supplements.

My recommendation was based on a testimonial, from a member on another forum.

So far, my dad has clearly detected a reduction in nighttime trips to the restroom and he's also noted an improvement in daytime issues - reduced frequency as well.

He's pretty happy with the results. I'm hopeful that they'll continue and possibly even improve in the coming weeks and months.

Good to hear. I hope any previous worries he may have had will now go away.

I just wanted to update this thread.

My dad appears to still be benefiting from the krill oil - with regard to his nighttime bathroom visits.

His PSA is also down a bit. I don't know if it's related to his krill oil usage but, it's a possibility.

I just thought some of you might like to know and give it a try.

Hi Harry....That was me recommended the Krill oil.

A friend of mine in PA was prescribed flomax for BPH. He called me and wanted to know what he could take instead of a drug. I told him he could try Krill Oil. Well he had another appointment in two weeks and he didn't get on the Krill Oil until 3 days prior. The Doctor examined him and said the flomax is working, you have no swelling. My friend said "I am not taking Flomax, I got it down in 3 days with Krill Oil." I guess the doctor was flabergasted.

Thanks, WyoJim!

Steelbone,

I think Dr. Mercola's krill oil is quite good but it's more expensive than comparable products available from Jarrow Formulas and Now Foods. Both of those brands should be as effective and will save you some money - if you shop carefully online.

Be well!

I'm running low on Omega 3 Fish Oil, and I planned to try Krill Oil. While researching it, I came across this more than once. It appears that virtually all the Krill Oil is produced at Neptune Technologies, so I'm thinking that brand has to be the newest and the freshest.

Virtually all krill oil is produced by Neptune Technologies and shipped to the various supplement manufacturers, so any krill oil you get will have come from the same place and be the same dosage. The only unknown is how long it has been sitting around in a warehouse somewhere, which is, of course, the same unknown with fish oil. At least with krill oil, thanks to the high anti-oxidant content, the shelf life is much longer.

"Two major supplement manufacturers, Jarrow Formulas and Source Naturals, market Neptunes NKO under their label."

Kind2Creatures,

There are a few other sources of krill oil as well. For instance, Vitacost sells a product under their NSI label that is made by Cyvex. The composition of said product is different (in terms of omega-3s and phospholipid concentrations) and significantly cheaper (price-wise). Recently they've also started producing another krill oil supplement, which is more expensive, that is more like Neptune Krill Oil.

I *believe* that Jarrow has recently switched to a different (but comparable) krill oil source - manufactured by Azantis.

Be well!

Thanks Harry, that's good to know. While I don't have a lot of money to spend on supplements, which already take over my entire medicine chest, and then some, I prefer not to waste money on inferior products.

Krill oil huh?. I've suffered from an enlarged prostate since a very early age. Prescription drugs were expensive and never really seemed to have helped. Back in the old days you'd get a prostate massage when visiting a doctor that helped but that went away with the times..I'm overwelmed by all of the natural supplements that are supposed to shrink the prostate but I'll deffinately try the Krill Oil..Any other testimonials about the benefis of Krill Oil, I'd love to hear them....Pete
