why wouldn't you fight for freedom if the federal government was gone?

how in the world do you think china could occupy and maintain occupation of this vast countryside with so many citizens armed?
Do you really believe this? Yes we freed ourselves from British rule when fighting rifle versus rifle and with a people who understood struggle made up our forces. The scenario today is quite different. A force made up of a bunch of fat, lazy, and spoiled people who believe they are able to fight against a trained military made up of people who have spent a lifetime in struggle, just makes me laugh. I hear this "everyone in America has guns" theory all the time and it is ridiculous.

Listen, we have guns... but we no longer have the ability to suffer... to do without. I don't know you and you may be the exception, as there are many exceptions to what I am saying but you really need to look around...the vast majority of people in America today cannot go 2 hours without a meal and they are at the door of the emergency room when they close their finger in a car door.

This is to say nothing of the infighting that would occur. For a time we would be as un-united as a prison riot and by the time we came together we would be overrun, out maneuvered and vastly under supplied for any kind of battle against a force with superior arms, real training, the ability to suffer, and the backing of a government that continues to supply all of these...Red Dawn is a cool movie but I am afraid that it would not be anything like that.

why in the world would China waste their resources on an impossible task of trying to occupy America? It would be impossible. And a complete waste of their resources. They already waste countless resources buying our paper money...they don't have an unlimited supply of resources.
Its simple economics.

That could be why, but I am not predicting anything here, I just threw China out as a possibility.
My point was simply that the moment we are in shambles trying to run our country without a governing body and a military is the time when a foreign power will intervene.

Anyway, I think we are way off the mark on this thread. The thing is, I for one do not want a company who's sole reason to exist is to make a profit, to decide what goes into my food.
Further, I don't want to leave it to them to decide to tell me what is in their products, because as we have seen and continue to see, they will include things that are proven to adversely affect our health.

Ted said that if a food has 2% or less transfat that it can be listed has having none...and that is with a governing body overseeing the process. I would hate to see what would happen if companies were allowed to do whatever they want without anyone overseeing what they do.

In my opinion, the government in this case, is (or should be) a neutral body who doesn't stand to profit from the company but instead, is only interested in the well being of the people. If that is not what is happening, then the overseeing body should be changed, accounted for...not done away with.
