Rhodiola Rosea and fish oil taken together- any risk of too much seritonin?
Both increase seritonin in the brain. Rhodiola rosea by 30% and fish oil by about the same amount. I also exercise (which produces seritonin). Or because Rhodiola is an adaptogen it will not let the seritonin levels get that high? Or because both these substances also raise the other neurotransmitters, it won't cause such a high level of seritonin?

I think it's highly unlikely. I've never read about such an effect (though, I suppose, it's theoretically possible). These are pretty common supplements and I think we'd have examples (in the form of published case-studies) if this was a common or even a rare reaction.
I don't currently use rhodiola but I have in the past (along with fish oil and a number of other supplements). I didn't exhibit any signs of serotonin-syndrome. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serotonin_syndrome If you find any evidence that this is a real possibility, please post it here.

Thank you for such a quick and good response.
How much of both the fish oil and Rhodiola did you take? I take about 11 grams a day until my omega 3 stores get situated, then I will probably lower to maybe 6-8 depending on how much I need. Have been taking for few days. |

I was/am taking 4 softgels a day. Each softgel provides about 600 mg of omega-3s. Please note that the actual softgels are probably about 1,000 mg ... 600 mg of which is comprised of EPA and DHA.
I split up the dosage (with breakfast and dinner), as it appears that taking fish oil at separate times of the day may be of benefit. Since you're taking such large amounts of fish oil, make sure that you're getting a pure source - one that guarantees no/low amounts of heavy metals and other contaminants. I was using a product that contained 150 mg of a standardized Rhodiola extract (providing approximately 5 mg of rosavins).
