SUPPLEMENTS-only 5 per day
I take over a dozen supplements daily, and more on some days. I always wondered if I could only have 5, whether the reason was availability, financial, or whatever, which would I choose.
I'm thinking a high quality multi-vitamin/mineral, vitamin D3, Magnesium Malate, Omega 3 fish oil, and vitamin k2. If you could only take 5, which would you choose? |

Hi all this is my first post here
Here is my protocol: Mix the following... Omega 3 liquid from here Vitamin D3 from here Vitamin K2 from here Notes: Under caution on the Healthspan website it says keep refrigerated and use within 2 months, thus in the interests of freshness I went for the 300ml over the 600ml. A 300ml bottle at 5ml per day would give me a 2 months supply. And 50,000iu divided by a 5,000iu daily dosage gives me a 10 day supply per capsule. Then a 2 month supply would mean a further 6 capsules of 50,000iu giving 300,000 iu. My previous 25(OH)D test showed that I was at 49 ng/mL and that was on a daily 5,000iu Biotech regimen, having slacked off a week owing to a holiday. Since I have a few 5,000iu left over I was going to go ahead and add 305,000iu to the Omega 3 oil giving me a daily dosage of 5083.33iu. The Vitamin K2 is 15mg per capsule thus 15 X 8 = 120mg. That is about 2100mcg per day. From the Weston A. Price website: The assimilation and utilization of vitamin D is influenced by the kinds of fats we consume. Increasing levels of both polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids in the diet decrease the binding of vitamin D to D-binding proteins. Saturated fats, the kind found in butter, tallow and coconut oil, do not have this effect. Nor do the omega-3 fats. D-binding proteins are key to local and peripheral actions of vitamin D. The above should consolidate about 5 pills into 1 and is great for those sick of popping pills. |

As retirement approaches and a significant decrease in income is heading our way, already is here as my husband gave it all up over a year ago, I am looking for ways to make our vitamin rituals sustainable economically! I can just see it! You sitting there drawing up your lines of Vitamin D3 on a mirror, like a coke snorter!

Hi FitforlifeDoc,
I use garlic daily also. I buy it organic and fresh. Then I pickle it. I fill one quarter of a pickling (mason) jar with balsamic vinegar then with the remaining room, distilled white vinegar, add Redmond salt or Celtic, or your preference, fill with peeled garlic cloves, a few sprigs of favorite herb and let it sit in the frige for at least two weeks. Then two cloves daily. Its still hot but bearable. No garlic aura either. For garlic to provide the antibacterial effects of allicin it needs to be hot and whole, that is uncrushed. If it sat in the frige for a year the heat would significantly decrease as the allicin degrades, but other benefits remain. You can reuse the vinegar mix several times over. If you get really sick two cloves every 2 to 3 hours is recommended Quote:

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for welcoming me to this web site! This is a great opportunity to learn new natural medicine ideas. As a matter of fact, I already learned something new today about making pickled garlic from ArrowWind. (I would insert a quote from the post she wrote to me, but I can't figure out how). Thanks Kevin and ArrowWind! Off to work I go.... Dr. Tom Bynes |

So jw,
are these K2 capsules, is it liquid inside or dry ingredients? If its liquid how do you divide it up? 2100 mcg a day is a significant dose! very nice.
