Eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day may not reduce your risk of cancer significantly despite it being official guidance, a study has found
More than 400,000 people were involved in the respected EPIC trial from across Europe.
Official guidelines recommend at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day in order to be healthy but new research has found that this may not have a substantial effect on cancer.
For every extra two portions consumed the risk of cancer reduced by just three per cent, the research conducted by a team at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York suggested.
I thought one of the benefits of fruit and vegetables was fiber to keep the colon clean. This in turn would help to remove the possibility of colon cancer.
Vegetables are good for minerals, fiber, and phytonutrients; so, I hope this does not dissuade people.
If the study comes to America, some vendors like V8 will have to change their commercials.
That is interesting. Has anyone ever heard of the Hallelujah acres diet? Simply put, you eat raw fruits and vegetables, even though, one meal is cooked to maintain weight. Yes, you are a vegan. HThousands of people testify that they were cured of cancers, etc. Here is one such testimony. https://www.hacres.com/library/testimonies/my-thanks/527
Six weeks later... no trace of cancer!... the miracle is that I listened!
Testimonial #527
I was diagnosed with untreatable and incurable cancer and given five weeks to live in April of 1998. A friend shared your screaming preacher tape, 'How to Eliminate Sickness,' with me.
Six weeks later (after making the diet change), NO TRACE OF CANCER!!!
For the first time in my life I consumed vegetables, and they were raw - well, I actually juiced 'em. I felt God gave me the flood (juice) so that I wouldn't have to eat them.
And no, I don't believe it was a miracle that God healed me. I have been telling ALL who will listen that the miracle is that I LISTENED!
Mr. Malkmus, thank you for sharing your life-saving knowledge.
Testimonies on the Hallelujah Acres website have been submitted voluntarily without promise of compensation or publication. Claims expressed are solely those of the individual; these claims have not been verified, nor are they intended to represent typical results of making a diet change
Well sure it makes sense... just eating a few fruits and veggies along with the normal SAD diet in my opinion wont do squat! if a person is still eating the other processed foods and the sugar and other garbage, there is no way that it would make a significant amount of difference.. Now if they ate the fruit in place of say all the sweets, and used veggies in place of pasta, then I would think they would start seeing differences. (this is sort of like me calling the kettle black, but yes I have made alot of changes! slowly but surely)

The Hallejuela diet is nothing new. Just the same old same old in the alternative community.... and people behind that program do promote mms to some degree.
As time goes by and we incure genetic damages from the toxicities of our ancentors over the last 100 years I suspect it will become harder and harder to cure cancer for some people with diet changes alone. The toxic load is getting greater in general not less, except for a small handful of chemicals that the public has taken an interest in to erradicate exposure to.
I had a friend a long time ago who cured his cancer with non-organic veggies right out of the supermarket. His claim was that organic was not as important as one might think. Living food was the key. But he was also a minister of Religious Science and the power of the mind he said is a leading force in healing.

The reason fruit and berries in total don't reduce cancer is they do not distinguish between low carbohydrate low fructose fruits and veggies and High Carb High Fructose fruits and veggies. You could be picking fruits and veggies that will keep your blood glucose high all the time and thus cause high levels of insulin and thus continous high levels of insulin like growth factor.
The fruits we have now are much higher in sweetness/fructose than previous generations would have enjoyed. Many people also juice their own fruits and don't realize that speeds up their metabolism by removing the fibre.
A new study to be published in an upcoming edition of the journal of Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice reveals that French maritime pine tree extract known as Pycnogenol (pic-noj-en-all) delays the uptake of glucose from a meal 190 times more than prescription medications, preventing the typical high-glucose peak in the blood stream after a meal. The study revealed the pine bark is more potent for suppressing carbohydrate absorption in diabetes than synthetic prescription alpha-glucosidase inhibitors such as Precose.

Good point. When they say to have 5 servings of fruits and veg, many people will cheat and eat mostly fruit (I know I would if I didn't know better!). And some fruits such as mangoes are extremely high in sugar.
The people in the country where my husband comes from are pretty healthy because they eat well, have good water and walk a lot but they still have higher diabetes rate than they should considering their overrall health and it's thought that it's because they eat more fruits than vegetables and of those veg, a good portion is root vegetables.
I'd still prefer to believe that a diet of mostly raw veggies and fruits,
berries is more likely to deter or help get rid of cancer than not;
especially the organic ones. 3% is better than nothing!
Cutting way back on meats is supposed to be helpful too.
It's the rawness of the veggies, fruits, etc that is more likely to
work the best.

I wonder what their overall diet was like. Was it a junk food diet with the addition of vegetables and fruit. The sides of a fast food lunch or frozen dinner with a vegetable, does mean one had a vegetable serving. Could it be they used vegetables and fruit from a can. I don't trust studies like this one.
Plant food is full of nutrients that are protective to human health. Five portions will not cut it. A whole food diet would include a much higher amount.
This study is not worth the money spend on it. The reason is that is shows a lack of understanding about human health. You would have to understand how everything the person did was related to their health.
This would include their work enviornment, their sleep hours, their emotional health, and their overall lifestyle. Everyone who posted seems to know more about this topic than the people who did the study.
