Candida Spit Test: please try it and let us know your results
I read about this test recently.. :
Simple Home Candida Test
it has both normal and candida results - and an explanation of why this happens.
and thought, I like that .. a simple test you can do at home. But.. then I thought about it, and wouldn't any amount of spit have enough weight to break the surface tension of water eventually?
or do some people's spit really float? (such an appetizing question! )
What you do is first thing in the morning, before brushing your teeth or anything, you spit into a glass of water (make sure it is a glass you can see through). Then wait 30 minutes.. and if it develops legs.. looks like this:
then you have candida (or so they say).
I did the interactive test (here: Dr. Crook's Candida Yeast Test ) and got a 5 - no candida
then I did the spit test, and it indicates I have candida (or rather an overgrowth of candida.. since everyone has candida).
so.. I'm wondering.. does anyone test normal?
is anyone game? easy to try. Anyway.. if you try, could you post what your results were?
thanks.

I tried it over a year ago... I know I have candida, all the other online test said I did, also my naturopath and a couple other herbalist, and one other doc said that I tested positive for candida at that time...... the test showed little legs.... right off the bat. the spit did float, and it did grow legs

Curious about others who have done this too. Anyone know the theory behind why the spit should form legs or float?
I score really positive on most of the candida tests I've taken, and have a number of candida-like symptoms. My spit formed legs immediately, and within the hour half of it sunk. The person who recommended the test to me (some kind of natural health consultant) said that healthy spit should still be floating in an hour, and any legs or sinking means candida overgrowth.
I had a friend take it and hers floated the whole hour. She says she took a lot of antibiotics as a kid and ate a lot of sweets, so she thought she'd have candida overgrowth too.
If anyone else is up for trying the test, please post your results too!

Every adult has candida, no exceptions.
The spit test only determines if you have thrush, or candida of the mouth.
Yeast can overgrow anywhere in the body, even the brain.
Everyone should be taking a good probiotic daily, such as Dr. Ohhiras probiotic.

When I had candidiasis* it was spider legs! The attack of the Candida monster, aaah. Now that I don't have candidiasis--no legs to speak of. I never had thrush, or candidiasis, in my mouth.
For pinball, candidiasis (the infection) versus candida (the yeast that everyone has a little of in their intestines)

Karin,
I did the test this morning, and the saliva floated on top the whole time, and there was some long thread-like legs, a couple of them all the way to the bottom of the glass. All in all, it didn't seem like too many legs, considering the amount of spit.
I was never aware of having any problems with Candida. Will try to get my husband to test in the next couple of days, and post his results also. I voted in the poll. From what I've read, the yeast is heavier than water, and that is why it sinks down.

My husband did the test this morning. Like mine, water clear and some legs, but only a few for him.

So I have heard about this spit test for a long time but I have never seen any written material on studies as to if it is actually true. I've always had my doubts.

I think that spit test is not very reliable. It does make sense that the Candida Yeast are heavier than water and will sink to the bottom though. There are other fungi that can be affecting your health even more. Each person's test will respond differently; as it is normal to have a colony of candida in your body. The problem becomes bad when they begin to overwhelm the immune system.
Here is a very good online test that will help you determine if you should need more tests. The reliable test will check for antibodies in the blood and saliva.

I could never get my brain around this spit test. Where is the documentation? the study? who studdied this spit and determined that legs in the water was candida or signified candida? in all these people who have done it?
Then I found this the other day on a site that educates about candida:
"Who invented the spit test?
The Candida spit test was invented by a multi-million dollar corporation called Global Health Trax Inc. that sells a product called ThreeLac, which is basically concentrated dried yoghurt. We wrote more about their unethical business tactics here"

We wrote more about their unethical business tactics here: ThreeLac scam. Of course, probiotics are very beneficial to those seeking to replenish their gut flora after use of antibiotics, but probiotics are hardly going to make a serious dent into systemic Candidiasis or any other kind of mycelial Candida infection. Probiotics work against the yeast form of Candida albicans, hardly against fungal Candidiasis the form that causes the most serious chronic problems. ThreeLac is vigorously marketed worldwide by an army of affiliates, and dubious many marketing tricks are used by some.

Thank you thank you thank you. I used to get so mad seeing ThreeLac everywhere touted as THE cure for candidiasis. That was evil of this corporation to do this to candidiasis sufferers. See information above in red!!

Yeast/Fungal
I went to a 'blood under the microscope' nutritionalist and he said not only did I have an over-abundance of yeast, but fungus in the blood also. He recommended 'Candex' which states this:
Yeasts and fungi can flourish only as long as their cell walls remain in tact. Studies show that the natural enzymes in Candex dissolve these cell walls and is safe, gentle and effective approach to fungal overgrowth and has no adverse impact on healthy probiotics.
It consists of:
Vegetarian Cellulase: 128,000CU
Vegetarian Hemicellulase: 80,000HCU
Vegetarian Amylase: 8000 SKB
Vegetarian Invertase 2000 SU
Vegetarian Glucoamytase 400 AG
I just started the product and I'll let you know after May 24th (my next visit) how effective it is.
