PVP & Retrograde
Hey guys I'm posting again because I need some support. I'm 35 years old and
had PVP surgery back in April. I had full retrograde after sugery. Up until about 2 weeks ago I starter ejaculating but the ejaculate is clear like water. Not a spot of white in it. Each time there is a little more ejaculate but again clear like water. I was wondering if anyone went from full retrograd ejaculation to normal ejaculation after PVP. And if so, did it start out like me, first with the clear fluid? This retro thing is bothersome to me way more than I thought it would affect me. I am not engaging in any sexual activity aside from masturbating alone. I would like so much to hear from any of you about this issue. Thanks for your time -- Message posted via MedKB.com https://www.medkb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx...e-bhp/200508/1 |

Yes, I went from full retograde to normal and passed thru the clear stage
that you are now in. Dave |

Re: PVP & Retrograde
It's hard to say. It did not happen all at once nor was it ever consistent.
I had some clear ejaculate the fist time I had sex post PVP and the sensation was much different then prior to the operation.. Then it went full retro. It stayed that way as far as I knew but the sensation started to improve. I'm a 65 year old widower with multiple girl friends. As a result I try to conserve my energy and did not always have the opportunity to examine the results for color or quantity. About a year post PVP I told one gal that was providing a "BJ", "don't worry I no longer ejaculate". It was then that we both discovered that my retro had cured it's self. I think it might be better to take a "hands off" approach with less frequency if you want to ejaculate. I believe a hard suction also helps it fire the normal way. Maybe it's psychological? Since that time my ejaculate has become more and more normal. It's been over two years since my PVP and I think I'm "normal" now. The quantity of my ejaculate is less then it was when I was a young man but the sensation is the same and I don't care. At times I miss the retro. It much less messy. Best wishes for a full recovery to the ''normal" way, but relax enjoy whatever your condition is. As long as you can pee, that's the big problem! Dave |

Re: PVP & Retrograde
Dave,
Thanks for the reply. I agree that the retro is no big deal. I was just curious as to your experience. For the first 6 weeks following PVP my orgasms were somewhat uncomfortable, but they are now (about 4 months post PVP) just fine, and that is the more important thing! Mr. B |

Re: PVP & Retrograde
I'm sorry to disagree with you, but for me retro is a big deal. Maybe it's
the age but I don't feel it's not big deal. It's something I have to get use to and it hasnt been that easy to. |

Re: PVP & Retrograde
Eddie,
I think everyone in this group understands your concern. We all want to be "normal", particularly when we are as young as you are. As we age we are just happy to healthy. If you had a sexual partner, you would not even know to color of your ejaculate. I believe that the clear part contains the spermazoa and the white part is a kind of lunch that we provide the spermazoa as we send them on their way. You probable are able father children right now if you wanted to. It's been a short time since your PVP and if the PVP was done right, most of the tissue that makes the white stuff was removed. It will slowly grow back. You can expect your ejaculations to eventual return to normal. It's only when you are by yourself that you think something is wrong. When you have a partner they will not know nor care about the color. If they do care, find someone else who does not. I hope this helps, Dave |

Re: PVP & Retrograde
I have retrograde after my PVP as well but lately I am seeing some signs of
fluid from the urethra. You say retrograde is caused by lack of ejaculate production due to vaporized tissue. Is that a fact? I assumed it was caused by either blockage of ducts or destruction of the valve that used to prevent the ejaculate from entering the bladder. Does anyone have a definitive explanation? Thanks, Jim W. |

Re: PVP & Retrograde
Jim, my understanding is that "retrograde" or "going backwards" means semen
is still produced, but upon orgasm it flows backwards into the bladder rather than forward. This happens because the sphincter at the top end of the prostate does not seal fully after pvp. You can check this out by peeing into a glass and seeing threads of semen floating around. I asked my uro about this at my 4 month follow up and his experience is that 50% of his patients have retro and of those, most of them regain normal ejaculation between 8 months and one year post op. I had retro for the first 3 months, now it's mostly forward, but sometimes it goes backwards. It seems to work better if I allow myself to completely "recharge" between firings. Then the muscle contractions are more pronounced and it goes forward. It would be really cool if I could control which way it goes, that would be so convenient! Eddie, it sounds like your situation is begining to reverse. Others on this forum have commented that it took 12 months or more for this to resolve. And for some retro appears to be permanent. And yes, my ejaculate was very clear at the beginning. It looks pretty normal now, maybe a little on the watery side. Dave -- Message posted via https://www.medkb.com |

Re: PVP & Retrograde
This guy's blog explains some neat stuff following his PVP...check it out.
Lots of other info posted there that might help you, too. https://bph-prostate-enlarged.blogspot.com/ Best of luck to you. Retro is no big deal...enjoyment is a bit less than the old days, but no big deal. Hoping everything works out for you. |

How soon after PVP can you masturbate again
I had a PVP 8 days ago. I was told no sexual activity for 2 weeks. Well, I have a pretty healthy sex drive, and on day 6 post-op in the middle of the night, I ended up ejaculating, with no much I could do to stop it. Well the next day, after no pain following the PVP, there was some pain, and a small amount of blood. I guess I irritated the prostate with the climax and some bleeding started. That was two days ago, and there are some drops of blood in the urine if I am sitting, otherwise nothing else. Now I'm paranoid about even waiting another week and whether that is enough time. How long did you guys wait before taking care of business again?
