I ate my first pure raw unadulterated chocolate while in Mexico last week. It was merely the seeds ground up, unsweetened. I loved it. "

Harry, I know that you're a fan of cocoa/chocolate. What product do you use and where do you buy it?

Hello, Iggy. I know you're not much of an IHerb fan but I'm sure you can find this product elsewhere:
https://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails....&pid=8254&at=0 I'll likely switch back to this one however - due to the considerable price-difference: https://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=5023 FYI, I may be a chocophile but I recently tried a cacao-based supplement that didn't do anything (demonstrable) for me: https://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails....&pid=8331&at=0

Do you use it primarily as hot cocoa?

Sometimes but I typically use it in homemade milkshakes.
The shakes usually consist of some form of milk (raw, grass-fed milk - most often), organic omega-3 eggs, cocoa powder, stevia and organic vanilla extract. I put the ingredients in a mixing cup and blend (with an immersion blender) until smooth and creamy. I alternate between chocolate and berry shakes.

Iggy,
That's a fantastic deal! Just make sure to store it carefully. Cocoa powder is more delicate than many other bulk items - due to it's higher fat content. Let us know if you come up with some interesting applications for the cocoa powder. You'll have plenty to experiment with. One day soon, I plan on making a slightly modified version of ST's chocolate/coconut treats. I'll report back with my results ...

My 5 pounds of organic cocoa arrived yesterday. I've made two large mugs of hot cocoa, sweetened with stevia. It's quite tasty and satisfying. I think I can let it count as one meal.

I was just thinking of asking you about your cocoa experience.
The past few days, I've been experimenting with a stronger hot cocoa (about three tablespoons per cup - probably about 1 oz of the dry powder). I find that this stronger brew is quite energizing (not surprisingly ... due to a few of the known phytochemicals in cacao). Do you notice any effect on your mood or energy-level after drinking the hot cocoa?

It was very satisfying and I felt mentally alert, but it didn't cause insomnia.
Tonight I skipped it because I just made a big salad, and that means red onion tea.
