Default What to Use for Sunblock?

Summer is just around the corner, and most people, especially kids get sunburned pretty good when we go out to the beach and play out in the sun.

So, what is a good sunblock to help protect kids and yourself from getting burned?

A rain coat, with maybe a flotation collar.

There's a couple of ideas/recipes in this older thread. I haven't been using sunblock, just trying to avoid long periods of time in the direct sun. I know it's harder with kids, they play out there for hours.

Here's a recipe from ehow that uses either sunflower or coconut oil.

The last link is interesting, Kind2C. I think I'd probably go w/just the coconut oil & zinc oxide mixed together tho.
One of my daughters was a life guard for many summers in a row, maybe 5 or 6 yrs total. Susan used heavy
coats of zinc oxide on her nose. Also, she's been a sun worshiper for most of her 49 yrs of life. She's
never had any problem w/skin cancers of any type - Yet, anyway.
Coconut oil is so inexpensive compared to the prepared sun screens i've seen.
