Eczema in infant
Does anyone have any suggestions for treating eczema in a four month old breast fed baby? The mother has removed dairy from her diet and that has helped some. She has also removed most meat--still uses some range free chicken and organic beef. But we need more ideas.

Mari, there was a thread in the hsi forum under allergies titled eczema... had some good ideas... This article was interesting I thought... weblink:www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/01/080123175324.htm
My 6 month old grandson has eczema, we are treating it with rbo, and yogurt in his goats milk.... We also have stop using any chemicals on his skin.. no lotion or baby soap... these seemed to make it worse... We are using a tea tree oil soap made by a lady in houston...awesome stuff... my daughter in law says it has even cured the rash that she has fought on her back (caused by the uniform she has to wear) This is some really great soap... Just got another order in today... I order 12 bars of soap at a time, so it saves shipping cost Here is her website

We have one spot on grandson's head that we are still working with... but thats better then what he had before..

For the baby we are using the just soap one... with the added tea tree oil... I have used her coconut soap in the past also, and really enjoy it... but I am thinking maybe the tea tree oil is helping with the eczema, but I dont really know

Eucalyptus: This 100% Essential Oil bar is also all olive oil. It contains crushed Organic Eucalyptus, Spearmint, Tea Tree and Lemon Essential Oils making this a healing and invigorating bar. Aloe Vera is the liquid. All essential oils without goat milk

mari, if you are looking at the web page, the one we use is right next to the eucalyptus... it is titled as just soap but in the reading, she adds tea tree oil to it. this is the description
Quote:
Just Soap: Shea butter, coconut oil, sunflower oil. Its just soap, no scent. The coconut oil gives it a slightly fruity note. Now with added tea tree oil!

it's a germ that causes eczema that lives on the outside, sponge bathe the child with clorox bleach -- highly diluted. They prescribe 1/2 cup in a bath tub for adults, so figure accordingly, increasing a little until it works.
Sounds scarey I know....so use just a bit...and let us know...
