My understanding is that most stones are caused by uric acid or calcium oxalate. Nettle leaf is good for dissolving both kinds. Nettle leaf is also very good for removing uric acid from the body and supporting the kidneys. This may be due to the high content of silica and vitamin C. I like the powdered nettle leaf and take about 1/2 teaspoon a day. Vitamin B6 is also good for dissolving stones; as well as celery seed and cherry juice. And of course plenty of water to help wash many toxins from the body.
So what is the cause of so much uric acid? Maybe she should get her blood sugar checked for possibility of diabetes. Also a higher protein diet can cause it. Alcohol can inhibit the removal of uric acid from the body too; so watch that.

Jfh,
She forms Calcium Oxalate Stones. She can not afford any extras.Even if she could, she wouldn't take Nettle Leaf.Doctors told her not to take any B Vitamins, because of Cirrhosis and Hepatitis B.I might could talk her in to taking Celery Seed and Cherry Juice. She drinks plenty Water and Gatorade. Her BS swings from high to low,and she eats a high Protein Diet.

Tell your friend to stop drinking gatorade. (no coffee and no soda of any kind)
Lots of filtered water is good, and LOTS OF VITAMIN C, at least 3000mg three times per day, and up from there.
Vitamin C does not cause stones, it prevents them, and is not expensive.

One of the top ingredients in Gatorade is high fructose corn syrup.
Nettle is still good for oxalate stones. If you don't think she will try that, then at least ask her to increase magnesium.
Quote:
Excellent sources of magnesium include Swiss chard and spinach.
Very good sources of magnesium include mustard greens, summer squash, broccoli, blackstrap molasses, halibut, turnip greens, pumpkin seeds and peppermint.
There are numerous good sources of magnesium including cucumber, green beans, celery, kale and a variety of seeds, including sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and flax seeds.

Ascorbic acid is broken down into oxalates in the intestines. So a more natural vitamin C is so much better. Bell peppers are good for this. The red ones are the very best.
Still oxalate stones should not address the cause of the urine odor. Sorry. I don't know anything else.

She will not stop drinking Gatorade from being chronically Dehydrated. At least once per Week when she has Ascites,Home Health Nurse has to do a Heparin Flush, then 80 MG Lasix through a Life Port, but she takes Oral Lasix and Aldactone everyday. If she is Nauseated, which she is 99% of the time, she may not drink Coffee at all.If she isn't Nauseous, she drinks 1-2 C Coffee Daily. She stopped drinking Soda 3 Years ago.She craves/Eats Foods high in Vitamin C,but doesn't take a Supplemental Vitamin C.
