Treating a Kidney Infection

I have a friend who has been a heavy drinker and drug abuser for 20+ years. He has been off all drugs and alcohol excluding cigarettes and tobacco for seven weeks now. Tuesday night, he told us that he was hurting badly and when we looked into it, we are thinking that it is a kidney infection. To treat this, I made the following routine:
Morning:
8oz. cranberry juice
16oz. water with juice of half a lemon added
approx. 16oz. ACV lemonade (contains water, ACV, sugar, lemon essential oil, lemon slices)
4 oz. Kefir probiotic.
Afternoon:
2 packages Emergen-C to 16oz water
1 Nature Made Vitamin C 500mg
1 Nature Made Super Strength Cranberry 450mg extract
1 TruBiotics Daily Probiotic
Evening:
8oz. cranberry juice with 4oz. aloe vera juice
16oz. water with juice of half a lemon added
4oz. Kefir probiotic.

In addition to the above, he has been drinking 100fl.oz - 150fl.oz of straight water.

I am wondering if you would have any input as to what to do and not do. He will pretty much eat/drink anything I have gave to him. He doesn't like the straight up cranberry juice but he does drink it. It there something more I should be doing or something that I am doing that I should stop doing?

Also, would you have any recommendations as to what to give him to rebuild or strengthen his kidneys/liver/etc. from use a long term drug abuse? He tried a detox cleanse once, and said that he would never do that again. I'm not sure if he was serious though.

Any insight would be very much appreciated!

I've used an 8 oz. glass of pure cranberry juice (Knudsens) around every 4 hours, with a one ounce glass of cranberry juice concentrate (Knudsens) in between the regular juice, very effective for kidney infection coming on, knocked it right out in a couple of days.

As far as liver support and health, I think the best thing is Milk Thistle extract, Gaia is the brand I've been using, it's good strength and low alcohol. Turmeric (curcumin) is also good for liver health. I'm not an expert, but I do take these things daily as a preventative. Dandelion extract is good for the kidneys. When using any herbs or supplements, always research all side effects and drug interactions.

Chlorella is also good for the liver, I use the NOW brand powder, small spoonful in the morning with orange juice (and the turmeric). https://www.natmedtalk.com/showthread.php?t=27297

Congrats to your friend for cleaning up, it's worth it...you are a good friend, welcome to the forum.
