I'm not sure how your Copay works or if that is $4 a month or each Rx. in the UK if you have to pay for a prescription you pay a set fee and this is irrespective of the cost of the item.
Prescriptions are usually monthly so each month you would be paying more for vitamin D on prescription than you could buy over the counter.
My source of vitamin d3 works out at $15 a year about 9 if the Rx is monthly then it's still cheaper to buy over the counter.
UK prescriptions cost 7.20. a month or three monthly 28.25 This saves you money if you need four or more items in three months.
A 12 month certificate is 104.00 and saves money if 15 or more items are needed in 12 months.
But if you are a healthy person and just require vitamin d to stay healthy then it's cheaper to buy over the counter (from IHERB not UK suppliers and use WAB666 or similar code to save initial $5 discount)
The amount the
drug manufacturers charge for D2 is more compared to the cost of the same
strength vitamin d3
