Lehigh Valley Excursion

Sept 2007
Lehigh Valley PA excursion. While the weather is favorable, I'm scouting by 'area blocks' for future homesites. This Lehigh trip was to include visits to Nazareth, Bethlehem, a couple of towns surrounding Bethlehem, and ending in Quakertown for the giant flea market that's always advertised.
The route I planned was to cross the Delaware at the Portland bridge, take the 611 service route to my 1st stop Nazareth. I missed the service route, and ended up going through Easton. Sometimes unexpected pleasures can come out of a mistake.lol The architectural design of many of the buildings was breathtaking and I will go back to explore there another day. I finally made it over to Nazareth and I was very pleased to say the least. I would, without question, move there if the right house presents itself next year. It's a sleepy, neighborly kind of place and has just enough of everything where you don't need to leave town to do errands. I'll take my son back with me on one of my next visits and surprise him with a visit to the Martin Guitar Museum since he's into playing guitar.
Next up was Bethlehem. I had planned to stop and do tourist attractions, art galleries, shop at the Christmas barn, and have lunch at the historic hotel Bethlehem but I didn't have a detailed map of the streets and I kept getting lost.lol Parking was a problem. I'll go back for a day trip w/a map at the end of November because they're known for a Christmas fest and Kris Kringle mart through Dec. It's about 1 1/2 hours from me so it's an easy trip.
Check-in at the motel in Quakertown was at 2pm so I didn't stop at any of the surrounding towns as it was already past 2:30 and I was getting hungry. I checked in, grabbed something to eat and rode around the area to find the location of the flea market. Shopping for craft supplies wasn't something I thought I'd be doing but they had a couple of good craft stores so I ran around in them. TGIF's was right there, so dinner messed up my diet a little because I ate Fettichi Alfredo instead of having a green salad but oh well. It was good and it came with Hickory flavored salmon. The flea market turned out to be a dud or else I didn't travel deep enough into the parking lot. The historic society was having a flea market at a park on Sat, so I stopped there for a flea market fix. Most of the time I don't buy anything but I like to look around because you never know what treasures you'll find at them.
