\nThanks for your advice Arrowwind09, I do take many supplements, and remember a long time ago using Horsetail for a short period of time, don\'t remember why, lol. \n \nThanks also to BeachMan and Jim! Along with supplementation, I try to get in some weight bearing exercise, such as light weights and exercise bands on video dvds. I will definitely look into Boron, as I\'ve never thought of it before. \n \nI appreciate all of your suggestions. I guess I\'m glad nobody pushed to increase calcium intake. I have the feeling too much will settle in my arteries, and I\'d rather have weak/porous bones than a stroke \r\n | \r\n

It contains both Boron and Silicon from Horsetail as well as the other minerals that you need in the proper dosage and ratios, which I identified in my above POST. Also, as I stated, be sure to read the details about each with tips which are provided by the Life Extension Foundation. Their research department is second to none, and they provide excellent and useful information in an easy to read format. And don\'t overlook Ostivone (Ipraflavone). When you click on the first Link in my above Post, it will be the first three Links in the Post that comes up. Be sure to read the Q&A\'s (Questions & Answers) about it. It\'s a supplement that can truly make a significant difference in ensuring that your efforts succeed in producing strong and healthy bone.\r\n | \r\n

For some excellent supplements, with concise and well written explanations of what they are, how each works, and how best to take them, see my post here: https://www.natmedtalk.com/general-di...eoporosis.html Quote: \r\n
\n \nAlso include a good multi-vitamin and additional Vitamin C with bioflavonoids (up to 2000 mg, e.g. 500 mg 4 times a day), and do include some light weight bearing or resistance exercise (walking, jogging, gardening, housework, use of resistance bands and/or light dumbells, etc. ). Consider investing in a treadmill exercise machine if you have no place to walk or jog. Try to do one or more of those at least two to three times a week. However, if just starting an exercise program, do not be tempted to overdo it with the exercise by doing it every day. Try instead to give your body a full 24 hours or more to repair the tissue which exercise initially breaks down, before exercising again. By doing so, that will allow your body to fully utilize the supplements, along with good nutritious food, including protein, to readily repair and restore the tissue and bone and make it even stronger, thanks in part to the exercise. \n \nConsidering that our body\'s production of digestive enzymes often decreases as we age, you may even want to include a good digestive enzyme supplement to help your body fully utilize the supplements and food. Two excellent ones are: \n \nPancreatin by Vitamin Shoppe - VitaminShoppe.com \nand \nEssential Enzymes by Source Naturals - VitaminShoppe.com \n \nNote that the Source Naturals product, Essential Enzymes, includes the milk sugar digesting enzyme, lactase, which is not included in the Vitamin Shoppe\'s Pancreatin. Although you may not consume milk products, some supplements, including Vitamin C supplements, contain the milk sugar, lactose, for which you might want to take the lactase containing product from Source Naturals, or some other lactase product. Always check the ingredients of supplements very closely. \n \nThen as your body becomes acccustomed to the exercise, you can increase the frequency if you wish. However, I would still keep it to no more than five times a week, and that\'s providing that it\'s light exercise. If doing heavy stress exercise, do not do it more frequently than every other day. Otherwise, you\'ll just be tearing yourself apart over the long run. Occasionally or even routinely varying the type of exercise can be beneficial as well by stressing your bones from different angles via the muscles being worked, and will help prevent you from becoming bored with the same old exercise all the time.\r\n | \r\n

Osteopenia/Osteoporosis
I'm menopausal, and was diagnosed with Osteopenia a couple of years ago, and told to increase my daily calcium intake, at least 1500 mg per day. I already was taking approximately 500-750 mgs. of calcium citrate per day.
Instead of increasing my calcium, I started taking Magnesium Malate and Vitamin k2 and D3. I feel good about this, haven't had another bone scan, but think I'm on the right track. Any input? Thanks. |
