Why Is My Bottom Lip Swollen?

\r\n \r\n Advil is supposed to be okay for children 12 and over, but it is ibuprofin, and not an ideal OTC product for people to take of any age. Is it possible that you\'re getting a cold sore or fever blister on your lip? Did it feel itchy or tingly? Were you out in the sun too long lately, or stressed?\r\n

\r\n \r\n Thanks for replying FINALLY A REPLY. As of right now the swelling on my lip has decreased dramatically. You can\'t notice the swelling anymore.

\r\nThe bad news is that I\'m getting some fatigue, fever and chills. I am so pissed right now it looked like it was going away now its coming back. No it does not feel itchy or anything. I don\'t have any cold sores on my lip the swelling has completely disappeared.

\r\nSo what now? I\'m pretty sure I have Strep throat now but my parents can\'t take me to the doctor today they\'re busy. They said tomorrow they\'ll take me. I took some Children\'s Tylenol and i\'m getting some relief but not a whole lot (I don\'t have the adult tylenol only the children\'s).

\r\nWhat do you think I should do I basically have two problems right now. I have this infection MOST LIKELY strep throat and I also have an allergy to something. What should I do?\r\n

\r\n \r\n You have to figure out what you are allergic to and eliminate it from your life or from your diet. Talk to your parents about it. Did you change soaps lately? Change something that you eat? Have you been on any mediciations? Everything comes into question when you think you might have allergies.

\nAs far as the sore throat, gargle with warm salt water a few times a day. You will survive till you can get to the doctor.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Thanks for the reply! I understand what your saying. I\'m trying to figure out what may be causing it but thats very difficult. I use the same shampoo and soap as I used before so thats not the problem.

\r\nAs for foods that I eat well, thats a little difficult. I eat a variety of foods and most of the foods people are allergic too. Eggs, seafood, peanut butter, strawberries, mangos u name it. I\'ve never had allergies in the past with anything either. When I took Children\'s Advil in the past there were no reactions.

As for my sore throat symptoms a neighbor came over and said that I shouldn\'t need to go to the doctor as long as my fever is below 102 and I drink lots of water and eat properly. The neighbor is also saying the children\'s tylenol I am taking is not enough. I need to take the adult brand of Tylenol is that right?\r\n

\nI\'m not an expert, and this is just my opinion, but here\'s some advice for you. It seems like you\'re falling into a \'trap\' at a very young age, by using all those over-the-counter medicines like Advil, Tylenol, etc. Bad news to be conditioning your body (and mind) to get into the HABIT of using this garbage in a mindless way.

\nJust a suggestion, but if I were you, I\'d begin exploring natural things, some that are already around the house and inexpensive, to use when you have a sore throat, etc. Here\'s a few links to show what I mean, and there are many more options out there for various health issues. Don\'t have tunnel vision, think outside the box.

Exactly what my parents told me. They don\'t want me taking tylenol or advil too much. As of right now I have gotten adult tylenol but haven\'t taken it yet. I tried doing the salt water gargle and it almost made my sore throat go away! Its still there though :P. Thanks for the links they\'re very helpful! I\'m only going to take tylenol until my fever goes away if my sore throat is still there I\'m doing salt water gargle.\r\n

I'm 13. So yesterday I was starting to have a sore throat around evening. I went to bed it when I woke up at around 3am it was a little worse. It was annoying the CRAP out of me but I had no fatigue, no runny nose and I didn't feel hot like I had a fever. I went downstairs and took one pill of the Advil liquid gels. BTW I'm 13 and I'm supposed to be taking this right?

Next morning I wake up and my bottom lip is swollen up. It just got bigger all of a sudden! I still feel great though! No fatigue no runny nose no fever either.

So what in the world could this be??? I know what you guys are probably going to say ALLERGIES? I've NEVER HAD ANY ALLERGIES BEFORE! Its weird. The other possible cause would probably be me biting my lip while I was asleep. Possible.

I've also been getting hives for the past month or two. They itch like crazy but sometimes I just plain forget about them. It starts with an itch and if I don't itch it then nothing happens. If I do itch it hives start to show and then in like a day they disappear? WTF? Very strange.

So what could this be? Should I get to a doctor right now or wait until tomorrow I don't think I can get to a doctor today anyway so I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow would this be okay? Any help would be appreciated!
