My two-year-old toddler bleeds when he goes...
About two weeks ago, my two and a half year-old baby started to bleed almost every time he uses the bathroom(#2). I don't know why all of a sudden this happen. I don't know if he forced it out too quickly and tear the rectal area that makes it bleed. His diet is pretty much the same, he he can't eat many different kinds of foods without having an allergic reaction that causes his skin to break out in eczema. It's like he's even allergic to air!
It's already tough to see him go through this food-allergy thing and now rectal bleeding.
He doesn't eat bad food that often, only once in awhile we go out to eat. And he doesn't eat much because 9 out of 10 times he'll be allergic to something. We usually feed him at home first before we go out.
We spend a pretty-penny to buy healthy organic foods for our family. We spend a good part of our income at Whole Foods Market.
My son's diet is considered to be healthy, I think(I tried). He takes 2 teaspoon of rice bran(with all the healthy plants sterols, fiber, etc..) with a few ounces of fresh-pressed, unfiltered apple juice almost every day, then half an hour later he'll have a bowl of oatmeal with sliced bananas and flaxoil(to help with eczema) almost every morning. For snacks, he'll have yogurt, cheese curls, or cheese popcorn with juice. Sometimes I'd let him have some cookies. His other meals also include veggies in them. I'd put spinach and sweet corn in his mac and cheese. He'll eat apples, pears, mangoes, and other fruits, but only enough to his liking. I don't have soda pop in the house, or sugary drinks. He drinks more water than anything else. I tried to get his pee to be light yellow, which means he drinks enough water.
He always strains really hard at the beginning, like he is trying to push everything out in one push. He shouldn't be constipated, his bowl doesn't look hard, it's formed and normal, but not hard.
Sometimes after he finished using the bathroom, I see fresh blood in the toilet. Other times there's blood on toilet paper when I wipe him. It scares me. He doesn't look like he's in pain afterward, but he's always been a champ with all the problems he got. Ever since he was a few days old, he wasn't able to go on his own for 3 months. We had to use a suppository every time to help him go. He didn't know how to relax his anal muscle, it was always squeezed tight.
I don't know if it's because I stop giving him his multi-vitamin with applesauce, almost the same time the bleeding starts. A few days ago I started him on "greens" supplement with all the green veggies from land and sea in a tablet to give him an extra serving of veggies that he might be missing in his diet. I was hoping it would help, but so far.... not so much.
I don't want to take him to the doctor because I don't know what he'll do to him. All the vaccines that he had was enough, and he hates it there. The last time he was at his doctor's office for a two-year check up, when we got to the door of the check-up room, he held my hand and pulled me toward the exit door, and said "mama this way". He screamed the whole entire time when the doctor saw him. I guess I would have to have him looked at if this problem doesn't go away. I don't understand it.
Does anybody have any clue to my son's ailment? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Any internal bleeding in a 2 year old child, requires checking by a doctor.

Well, the first thing I think about is constipation. If the stool is hard this could be the cause. If not a visit to a pediatrician is recommended, and I like older pediatricians better than younger ones, nothing like a lifetime of experience.. ...but don't take their medicine. I t could be as simple as a small anal tear which is pretty common in kids and can bleed for a time until it is healed. Making the stool soft is about the only thing you can do and just one hard stool can do it and then it takes a while to heal. Take your diagnosis to a homeopath if it is more than this. Kids issues are so easy for them to cure at this age and it is your best bet for getting rid of his allergies. Allergies can be cured and most easily at this age with homeopathy.

Thanks for your replies.
I really don't think it's internal bleeding because the color and texture of the stools looked normal to me.
I think you are right Arrow about the small anal tear that will take time to heal. There was one day during this period he didn't have any bleeding, and his stool broke apart in the water, it wasn't formed; that is considered to be a normal, healthy bowl.
I'll wait when he goes today to see what happens. If it doesn't go away, I'll have to take him to his pediatrician for diagnosis. And if he needs treatment that I can't help him at home then I'll have to take him to a homeopath. I just really hope it'll go away(heal) soon.
Thanks again.

I have a brother in law that had hemorrhoids about 3 years old; probably due to constipation he thinks. He did not say if it was internal hemorrhoids. He says they discovered it when he had blood.
If it is like mine, the blood will be bright red on the tissue.

TML,
A number of things come to mind which may help explain the problem. However, keep in mind the advice you've already received as unexplained bleeding, if it persists, needs medical attention.
Although I'm now in my 60's, I have the distinct memory when I was two or three years old of straining with my bowel movements with my dear mother, who was an R.N. and is now departed, God bless her soul, at my side, gently encouraging me and getting me through the ordeal. Whatever she did to adjust my diet must have worked because I eventually got over it. However, many years later, after a major attack of ulcerative colitis which nearly killed me, I was told by a sweet little nurse after I had a barium enema among other procedures, that my bowel was larger than normal. As I lay there on the table after she told me that I immediately thought of that little boy straining to initiate the bowel movement and realized that it was the size of the stool that was creating the problem. It was just too large for the opening, making it both difficult and painful to initiate. However, once it was on the way through the pain and difficulty subsided. Guess I was really full of --it!!
That may account for your two year old's problem, in part. Low peristaltic contractions will also produce a larger than normal stool. However, as already noted, it could be a mild form of constipation, even though the stool is well formed and not too hard, as essentially you have him on the BRATTY diet which is used to eliminate diarrhea. Possibly it's a case of too much of a good thing. If you're unfamiliar with it, go to: What are Home Remedies for Diarrhea?
If the stool is what would be considered normal size, particularly in diameter ( how big around or thick it is), or slightly larger, with your son's prior history of a tight anus due to difficulty in relaxing the sphincter muscle it may be that he also has a slightly smaller than normal anal opening, just as I have a larger than normal bowel. Thus his stool size, which would ordinarily be considered of normal or slightly larger size in diameter, would actually be much larger than normal relative to the smaller anal opening and could account for his difficulty in initiating the bowel movement. So even if constipation isn't a factor, that would account for his "straining really hard at the beginning", which is essentially what my problem was and to this day at times still is. Also it could account for the already noted possibility of a rectal tear, or even a bleeding hemorrhoid from the pressure exerted on the bowel wall at the anus. That, or a small fissure or tear, could also account for the bleeding into the toilet and the blood on the tissue. If so that blood would be bright red as opposed to dark. Also, I'm assuming there is no black color in the stool, which would indicate internal bleeding if present, and a more serious problem requiring immediate medical attention.
One thing you might try right away is returning to the routine or diet you had him on before this happened. That would include resuming the vitamin and applesauce and discontinuing the "greens" supplement, at least temporarily. If that corrects the situation, then you can try introducing the "greens" supplement back into his diet to see if he can tolerate it. Also start his day with a glass of water (8 ounces for an adult - probably 2 to 4 ounces for a two year old) to help rehydrate his body and replace the water that is lost to respiration while sleeping. That alone solves a lot of back problems for people as it rehydrates the disks in the spinal column. And ensure that he gets sufficient water throughout the day to help eliminate any possible constipation.
In addition, read: What are the Signs of Needing More Fiber in My Diet? Even though a hemorrhoid may not be his problem, note the sentence: "People with hemorrhoids often have less trouble when consuming higher amounts of dietary fiber. This helps soften bowel movements, providing greater comfort and fewer irritations when having a bowel movement." Also note the Links near the bottom of the page under "Related wiseGeek articles".
In addition, you might try this. At Whole Foods purchase a bottle of the national brand, which I believe is Lily of the Desert Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Gel. Do NOT purchase the Juice, and do not purchase their own brand (it's too watery) if they are out of Lily of the Desert. Also try to get the Whole Leaf Gel rather than the regular Gel. If they are out of the Lily of the Desert, go to a GNC and purchase the brand that they carry. Or try another health food store or the health food section of a supermarket for Lily of the Desert. The bottle is flexible so that you can squeeze the Gel out (you really have to squeeze it out because it's real gel). Add a couple of tablespoons of the Gel to his applesauce and or to his oatmeal. It both provides lubrication for the transit through the bowel and has a healing effect on the bowel wall and anus.
One other thing from my own experience, which you may find helpful, jumped out at me when I read your Post. Your son is highly allergic, but one of the most highly allergenic food groups is milk products. Another is wheat products. Yet you include in his diet yogurt, cheese curls, cheese popcorn, mac (macaroni ?) and cheese, and occasional cookies (wheat ? & possibly milk?). I too, have a number of allergies, and to recover fully from severe ulcerative colitis and remain in remission it was necessary to completely eliminate all milk products, including yogurt, and all wheat products. The allergy with milk products is not just a lactose intolerance problem, but also an allergy to the milk protein. Only when I did so was I able to eliminate the bleeding. Therefore, since he is highly allergic, you might do well to consider completely eliminating milk products and wheat products in any and all forms. In my case I also had to temporarily eliminate all egg products as well as all sugary products, leaving me with meat, chicken, fish, and fibrous fruit and vegetables. Nuts and seeds were also temprorarily eliminated. I only include that information because at some point you may want to consider doing the same. You might also consider adding a good probiotic and/or a good digestive enzyme supplement. Both have done wonders for me.
One other article, which is about babies, but which may give you some ideas concerning his diet is:
Constipation in Baby | Infant Constipation & Baby Constipation Remedies and Advice - Constipated Baby Infant - Constipation Information from wholesomebabyfood.com
Note in particular near the bottom of the page the difference between apple juice and apple sauce. It may not apply in his case as the problem started after the applesauce was eliminated. Nevertheless, knowledge is power, and you may find it useful nonetheless.

The other thing I should mention is that if the bleeding goes away for a while then returns it still could be an anal fissure. Sometimes they take quite a while to heal and can reopen after you think you are done with it.
As far as hemorrhoids go, its pretty uncommon in a child this age but of course not impossible. Again, the cure lies with homeopathy. I have cured a number of hemorrhoid cases with remedies.

Sorry for the delay, I've been away. Thank you so much for the informative advice and links.
My son hasn't been bleeding since I wrote this thread, thank God! I think he has a mild case of constipation. I have been making him drink alot of water lately, that ends up with many trips to the potty, I didn't mind it at all.
Beachman, I think that his case is similar to yours. There were times I noticed his stools is much larger than his anal opening, almost the size of an adult healthy size stools, they were kind of too large for his size. He strains really hard every time at the beginning his bowl. His dad told him to not do it hard, but do it slowly, and we tried to talk to him calmly and slowly, he responded to it and he hadn't bled since.I think the applesauce really helps him go better, he always responds better with it in his diet.
I was thinking about stopping the "greens" supplement because I think he might be allergic to that too. I noticed a new rash that pops up on his neck which he never had. His rash spreads out larger every time he breaks out. It could be anything, any ingredient. I don't think he's allergic to milk, there were times when we really restrict his diet that also includes milk and he never broke out. Now wheat and eggs might be a different story, and a confusing one. He can have his cheese animal crackers(made with whole wheat flour) and not break out, and will with others. Just like he can have a little bit of this cake(contains egg)and not break out, but will with another. I gave him boiled egg when he was around one year old, I don't remember there was an allergic reaction. He breaks out even with fruit juices(fruit punch). I'm lost and frustrated, I hate to see him suffer. He itches so bad when his rash gets dry and scaly. He always scratches 'til it bleeds, and I always try to stop him before that happens. And another thing, he is a picky-eater! A picky-eater with hyper-sensitivity to foods, what do I do. He loves food that he can't have and he can't have alot of different foods. It breaks my heart to keep saying no to him, then he starts to wind and cry. And if he keeps eating the same things that he is not allergic to, eventually he will end up being allergic to them, then what?
I think his immune system is going haywire because of all the vaccines that he had, and that will be all that he'll have. If I had known then what I know now, they would not have a chance to inject those poisons in my baby. That's what I blame it on and I'm sticking to it.
Thanks again you guys, for your time, suggestions and thoughts

The allergy certainly could be from food. It does not sound like Celiac since wheat would always bother him. Some people are sensitive to MSG and it is in a lot of foods. I am sensitive to Malt. Who ever heard of that? Soy allergy. Soy should not be eaten by anyone but particularly not by males. It is in all kinds of food.
Lots of supermarket food is now genetically modified. None of these should be eaten at all.
A conventionally grown banana would be:
4011
An organic banana would be:
94011
A genetically engineered (GE or GMO) banana would be:
84011
https://www.plantea.com/genetically-modified-foods.htm
Do not rule out other possibilities such as mold in the house. Dust mite allergy. Allergy to sunlight, (my daughter has this). It is unlikely, but possible that a frequency from one of those Compact fluorescent bulbs is causing a rash. My mothers arm was broke out from sitting by one for many months. Frequencies from a wireless router can be irritating, particularly if it is on while sleeping.
Lots of possibilities, and any of them can be the cause.

DB, those numbers, are they found on all foods? Is this a definitive way to determine GMO foods or not? Where did you get that info?

He was put on about 10 different kinds of formulas when he was a baby--bless his heart from all the things we've put him through. I wasn't able to produce breast milk, I even the lady who taugh breast-feeding class to come in a help me feed my child after I had him. I told her there was barely anything coming out and she didn't believe me. Every time my hungry child tried to suck on it for a few second he let go and screamed. I tried to pump for half an hour and barely got an ounce. So I gave up and put him on formula, what was I suppose to do and my baby was starving.
With the tight any muscle problem that he had which I and all the people that we know never heard of, we were so lost, confused and scared. So we ended up putting him on all different formulas, we thought that we might find the one that will help him go, but didn't, only the ones with better consistency of the stool.
One of those formulas was soy, he was on it for a coulple of weeks. He wasn't allergic to it. So I don't think it's soy. I don't think he's allergic to sunlight neither, we don't go outside much and he's still breaking out.
Just recently changed all the CFL's bulbs to regular, they do more harm thatn good. We tried to eat everything organic, avoid MSG, artificial colors, additives, synthetic preservatives, chemicals, etc., at all cost.
I just recently found out from a produce expert at Whole Foods Market that all organic produce bar code starts with a #9, so you're right about that. Now, I gotta look out for the genetically engineered ones. Once in awhile we get conventional bananas since whe don't eat the peel. I guess we're gonna stick with the organic.
There are so many possibilities, I'm pulling my hair out just trying to put it all together, but not possible. Actually, I don't need to pull my hair out, at the rate it's falling, I'll be bald in no time. He's allergic to many things--fruits, vegetables, herbs, seasonings, etc. Even when I thought he's allergic to a certain ingredient, then he went and ate something with that ingredient in it and not be allergic to it. It's mind-boggling.

Mia, I had an issue with hair falling out a while back. It's grown back now. Although I had now way to be absolutely sure, I came to think it had to do with not getting enough protein. Both times it happened after I did a cleansing diet for 20 days, which had no protein in it.
Do you feed your son oatmeal? Look for steel cut grits. You have to soak them overnight to reduce cooking time. For a little guy I'd mix them half and half with regular rolled oats. They will help his bowels and they are super nutritious. I put frozen blueberries in them and eat it often in the morning. I know a family where they eat raw dried oats almost everyday, and thats 6 kids under age 8. She just puts milk on them, or you could use almond milk or rice milk or what ever and a touch of honey.
If you think CFL lights bother you look into LEDs

Arrow, my hair falling out could be from not enough protein in my diet. But this problem started about 8 years ago when I went through a really low and dark time in my life. I was in a deep sea of stress and worries, and then came panic-anxiety attacks, depression, and insomnia a year later through another dark time. All these set me up for so many different health problems. My hair problem got back to normal about 11 months after I had my son, and one day I called the nurse to tell her that I was feeling kind of warm, hot flashes like again, and SHE put me on T 3 while I was on Armour thyroid and it all went downhill again since.
It could be hormonal, they haven't got deep into that yet. We are still trying to figure it out with the thyroid problem first. I am such a mess right now ever since that bite on my ankle.
My son eats organic instant rolled oatmeal, not from the package, from the bin where I scoop at Whole Foods. I just add hot boiling water to it with sliced bananas and Barlene's flaxseed oil, he eats it with orange juice. He used to eat it with milk then we switched to organge juice for the vite C, and somehow we went back to milk again, and one day it just came back to me and we went back to organge juice because vitamin C helps absorbs iron from the oats.
Did you mean steel cut OAT grits? I have a box of that at home and some scooped out from the bin at the store. I heard it's alot healthier, just the time it takes to cook. Does it matter how much water I can soak it in?
I had him tried almond milk and rice milk just because I don't care for cows milk much because of the processing. He had allergic reactions to both. I figure it's the carageenan that was added to them. I'm not sure. But I will add frozen blueberries to give it twist to see if he likes it. I read an article that said not to eat berries with milk because milk lessens the health benefits of blueberries(berries).
There isn't any signs that CFL lights bother me or any in my family. I had learned that they can have mercury vapor leakage and dangerous when break, like everyone have to leave the area and return half hour later to make sure the mercury is clear and also you have to be very cautious when cleaning them up. I don't want to worry about that, I have enough worries as it is.
Did you know that regular light bulbs will be banned by 2014? Somebody wants to rake in all the dollars! Not everyone will dispose them properly, and can you imagine them in the landfills? The air that will fill our lungs will be contaminated with more mercury vapor. LED lights are kind of pricy for me. I'll just stick with the regular ones, and will probably starts stocking up on them too.

The GMO information was on Dr. Mercola's site. I think it applies to just fruit and vegetables and not the ingredients in processed foods, but I am not sure.
Hair falling out can be just from nerves. I watched a mans hair fall out in patches during a divorce. Stress affects the immune system in weird ways.
Vitamin D3 deficiency appears to be the root of many autoimmune diseases and the general impairment of the immune system. Something to maybe read up on.

Doc said my vitamin D level is good. It was pretty low and I have been taking 3000-4000 IU/day. BUT my cholesterol is 243, the highest ever. I don't know how it got so high, my diet doesn't change and I don't or rarely eat fattening foods, not even alot of carbs. Doc said my HDL is good, but the LDL is kind of high around 150+ and she'd like to see it go down to 130 or under. I'd told her it could be because I stopped the thyroid med, and she said there's a link, or it could be genetic. My dad has high cholesterol and blood pressure.
Know anything "naturally" effective to bring my cholesterol level down quick, especially the LDL level?
