In the cold war era it was fallout shelters that were being build by the thousands across the nation. I know. We built one.
The bunkers are not for bombs that they are building now, but for anticipated 2012 events. Many are being built around the planet. The thought is that the radiaiton coming from outer space,from the glactic center will only be survivable under ground.. see the writings of Dr Paul Violette.
