\r\n \r\n I make my own curries using authentic Indian Spices and approximate Madhur Jaffery\'s recipes and others. I find I tend to add a bit more spice than they suggest but I don\'t go for the really hot ones.
\r\nI\'ve almost given up eating out as I find most places are a disappointment, they cost a lot more and I could do the same thing far better and far cheaper at home. I don\'t think I\'m a brilliant cook but I wouldn\'t use a ready mixed commercial curry sauce and I suspect that most UK curry places are using commercially prepared sauces rather than preparing their own spices on the premises.
\r\nIt would be good to hear of some reliable curry places in the UK. It would a be nice change to go out for a meal and be impressed by the food.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Indian restaurants are not extremely common in the states and considering every one has a unique taste, I would say they make their own curry sauces. However, all the medium priced chains, (TGIF, APPLEBEES, CHILIS, MAX & ERMAS etc etc) all used pre packaged foods they microwave and bring out to your table.\r\n
