I've got to say. I don't find him inspirational at all. I know many people do. But, I just hear platitudes and recycled, far-left philosophy whenever he gives a speech.

He may arouse hope but there certainly isn't any change in his agenda - referencing his slogan. If there was real change then he wouldn't have a nearly identical philosophy as the old-standbys in his party - like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy.

My wife, who is "black", was a big-time Clinton supporter and is now reluctantly going to support Obama. She isn't particularly impressed by him but she's a lifelong Democrat, from a long line of Democrats.

Having said all that, Obama's got a huge advantage. More than 90% of the news makers are squarely in his corner. I think it was Chris Matthews that said that he felt an electric charge running up his leg while watching an Obama speach. Ridiculous, yes but I suppose it's better to have it out in the open.

I had a question regarding Obamas position on an issue, so I sent an email looking for a clarification. Since the issue was a controversial one, the reply, of course, was that they didnt have time to answer questions and to consult the web-site. If the answer had been there, I wouldnt have bothered to email.

As a consequence of sending the email, I was put on Obamas daily email list. I must say that his marketing team is doing a top-notch jobextremely well done. I have also visited McCains web-sitequite a contrast.

I really feel that Obama is an excellent orator (a real contrast to McCain who has all the charisma of a pancake) but then I look at some of the orators of history and see where they have led people. Its scary, especially when we know so little about Obamas principles.

What a way to select a president when the person who has the best marketing and strategy team that money will buy will probably come out on top. Obamas team certainly did a much better job than Clintons.

Theres got to be a better way. Any ideas?

You know. theres been words said on the media that the campaign between Hilliary and Obama was bitter.

I just don't get that comment. It was one of the cleanest races I've seen. Obama never got dirty. Hillary was only borderline.

I think the media filters out much of Obamas speaches and has a focus on the rally part, the inspiration part and kind of by passes the nitty gritty detail stuff, which granted, he did not really start putting out until about 7 or 8 weeks ago.

Today he had a comment about taxes. Now the McCain camp says he will raise taxes. And this may be... Obama says he will raise taxes on the rich but decrease for those making under what was it? It was $150 or $200 thou.

But today Obama said that McCain is in support of a bill for a tax break for Mobile/Exxon at the tune of 1.5 billion. Now this is in record profits year for this company. Why should Exxon get a tax break when they make more money and more money and more money? This is why I hate the government that we currently have. Its corporate interests, breaks for companies that take jobs out of the country, the rich get richer and everyone else looses. This is why I hate Rumsfield who made a mint on aspertame and tamaflu. Corporate interests and political power has to end. Its killing us all and in more ways than one. Some report came out recently the tamaflu is now found to give dangerous side effects, aside for not doing much for the flu at all.

And what about Haliburton. If Obama or Clinton were president that company would be history.

John McCain was challenged this week to forfit lobby money. He backed out. How could he, it is the main thrust of his financial backing as far as I can tell. Seems like he is owned to me. Obama said no problem. We are not taking lobby money. Lou Dobbs says Obama needs to do more to clean up his act in this regard. We shall see what he does in the comming days but he is doing much better than McCain.

My husband brought up a point that made me wonder. My husband was in Vietnam for a year and a half. He was one lucky guy over there. Not so lucky for McCain. 4 years in captivity, a prisioner. This was my husbands comment. " I think that anyone that spent that much time in a prisoner of war camp has to have a lot of negative baggage. You got to wonder how it might affect their judgement, being tortured, starved, etc."

Now McCain has stood on the side that water boarding is not torture. This really makes me wonder about his judgement. Obama says that we must stand with the Geneva convention. I have always felt this. I have felt greatly betrayed by our current government for allowing torture to happen. How can we be the role model for the world , the leader of free society, the hope of nations if we are so convoluted, so unable to see the faults in our reasoning.

And then again, Obama voted against the war. I was against the war from day one fully realizing that what has happened and is happening would come about. I was also terrified that they would come after my sons to kill and mame a people who had not done anything to us. His ability to foresee by understanding history and the larger picture has impressed me. No matter how bad Saddham was he was what held Iran in check and he feared Iran at the same time. God knows we paid Saddham enough, supplied him with enough weapons, both chemical and otherwise to do so. Now we have blown everything apart. Bush intended to Invade Iran all along and would have except for things going so badly in Iraq. He still may if he can find a chance. I will pray time passes quickly without event.

I found the following on another list and it summed up a conversation I had with neighbors the other day..

"It is past time to nationalize the oil industry. Fuel is a national commodity, essential to our well being as an independent nation. We, as a country, are being held hostage by an elete group of corporate officers and stockholders who seek only to benefit themselves with unconsionable salaries and obscene profits. Few can afford to "buy in" to this largess because we are paying through high taxes and high oil prices for access to a system in which we could participate if it were not for the tax breaks to oil companies and the confiscatory oil prices. As tax paying citizens, we have paid for the oil industry and now it is time for us to receive the equity."

Here is a letter that appeared in the letters to the editor section of our local paper a few weeks ago. I agree with it completely, but then I wrote it.

On 4-30 (in fence Post) Steve K. lamented that considering all the possible candidates that we could have for president why is it that the current list of winners are such losers? I couldnt agree with him more.

But is this really surprising? Since this campaign began much of the media have spent most of their time fawning over these finial candidates. Yes there were some other candidates early on but their ideas were quickly rejected and others that were considered too threatening were virtually ignored. Why was this?

Could it be that the people who are really in control of the government didnt want them? Could it be these puppet masters operating behind the scene are using the media to control the elections? To them it does not matter one wit if a candidate is democrat or republican the ONLY thing that is important is whether that person, if elected, can be counted on to do whatever theyre told. Having been hand picked from the beginning the current crop candidates clearly fulfills that requirement.

All that is required of us is to vote for either tweedledee or tweedledum. But first, if theyre to maintain this ruse, it is absolutely vital to get us to jump up and down wave our red and blue flags because its important for us to feel that were in control.

Of course if you really want to be in control you could vote for third party candidates or even a write-in. Naturally you will be told that you wasting your vote. But could it be considered that by holding your nose and voting for the supposed lesser of two evils, that this is the real wasted vote?

Madsci.... what good does voting for the third candidate or voting for a write in do, if its the delegates who do the voting anyway... supposedly hillary had won the popular vote, but osama won the delegate vote.... How does our vote count if the popular vote doenst???

The reason we have delegates is to give smaller states better representation at the federal level. Without it, unless it was a very close race, elections would be determined by the states with the largest populations.

My point being that if we keep doing the same thing the same way, by voting either democrat or republican, then we going to keep getting the same results. There is no real difference between them, is like comparing tweedledum to tweedledee. Republicans we are told are for smaller government and fiscal conservatism and yet the current administration has not reduced to size of government and has spent money like a bunch of drunken democrats.

We need to throw all the bums out and replace them with individuals who have actually read the constitution and understand its meaning and are determined to follow it. The problem is where do we find these individuals? Are there any left?
