The Project Censored team researched the board members of 10 major media organizations from newspaper to television to radio. Of these ten organizations, we found there are 118 people who sit on 288 different American and international corporate boards proving a close on-going interlock between big media and corporate America. We found media directors who also were former Senators or Representatives in the House such as Sam Nunn (Disney) and William Cohen (Viacom). Board members served at the FCC such as William Kennard (New York Times) and Dennis FitzSimmons (Tribune Company) showing revolving door relationships with big media and U.S. government officials.

These ten big media organizations are the main source of news for most Americans. Their corporate ties require us to continually scrutinize the quality of their news for bias. Disney owns ABC so we wonder how the board of Disney reacts to negative news about their board of directors friends such as Halliburton or Boeing. We see board members with connections to Ford, Kraft, and Kimberly-Clark who employ tens of thousands of Americans. Is it possible that the U.S. workforce receives only the corporate news private companies want them to hear? Do we collectively realize that working people in the U.S. have longer hours, lower pay and fewer benefits than their foreign counterparts? If these companies control the media, they control the dissemination of news turning the First Amendment on its head by protecting corporate interests over people.

Do we have mass media censorship? Oh no not us! We have a free press! But then don�t look at the last election and ask why it was that only the least competent ones of all the candidates managed to become the finalists?

No I didn’t want to see Sara win or McCain or for that matter BO, I do not see him the way the media did as a messiah sent down to save us. I believe that McCain was set up to be a loser and even if by chance he did win the people who are really in control knew that they could control him just as easily as BO.

I would not be surprised if BO were to step out of line and start making some “unauthorized changes” that one of the legal challenges for him to show his birth certificate just might find its way through the court system.

As I see it we have a one party system that just changes its name every few years. That way the people “feel” that they are in control.

BO said we need to get our troops out of Iraq, but they’re still there and we are sending even more troops to Afghanistan. Where is the change? Is there any doubt that our military could go into Afghanistan and total crush any resistance if that were the goal? But they don’t, why not? Follow the money who profits from having a prolong conflict?

The republicans we were told were recklessly spending money, and they were, so now BO is fixing that problem by spending trillions. Why were these banks not allowed to fail? No they were not too big to fail any more then GM is. Yet they are being propped up and GM isn’t. Again we need to follow the money to find who those people are that are profiting from this.

Yes but I’m not so sure which is worse, a media that you know to be controlled or a media that claims to be free but frequently slants the news in subtle ways to make you think you are getting the full story.

I dont disagree with most of what you say but the idea that large armies can go into countries and crush local guerilla forces is not borne out by experience.
The whole might of the Soviet Union army couldnt crush the Afghanistan Taliban fighters in the 1980's and had to return back home with their tail between their legs. Local fighters know the terrain and can win if they are fanatical enough. Vietnam proved that.

After all when we want some truth on healthcare do we run to CNN or Fox?
Of course not cause we know they will lie to us, promote drugs that will kill us and not be truly aware or promotional of the truths that contribute to health for commercial reasons. If they won't give us truth related to our most basic human nature, related to our health, why would they tell us the truth on anything else?

I look more and more to the internet for news. I go to several sites, conservative and radical. Somewhere between lies the truth.

Lets face it. Truth sayers just don't make money speaking the truth. So you gotta look at the intention...and you got to watch history carefully, which I am just learning to do.

You have to watch history VERY carefully as there can be problems according to who did the writing. It can be slanted towards Euro-centrism, Afro-centrism, etc.

I have an acquaintance, male, mid-fifties, well over average in intelligence, who believes that George Bush is responsible for Hurricane Katrina—not just the poor response, but that he actually caused the hurricane. How? Because he didn’t sign the Kyoto Treaty. This friend believes that if the treaty had been in effect, there would have been no hurricane. Who has been feeding him this kind of “truth”?

I don’t think any kind of news coverage will change the minds of people like this.

Thats interesting Mari, about your friends perspective on Katrina. Now I don't have reason to think that Bush caused Katrina but I do have reason to suspect that the government, or some force is messing with the weather big time. Just exactly what their capabilities are is unclear but it has much to do with why I posted the treads in ChitChat on HARRP and Chemtrails.

Just how much dinking can be done before real damage occurs? I cannot say but I strongly suspect there is dinking going on, and perhaps in a massive scale around the world.

If you get into the HAARP thread be aware that there is the facility up in the antartica but there are rumors of several others around the planet, not all necessarily US controlled but I just haven't got to looking into it yet.

Doing the thread on Nicola Tesla will prepare you for the HAARP thread, in a historical and back round sense.

I can only handle so much of this kind of stuff at any given time, and the HAARP and chem trail thing is huge, and I feel overwhelmed sometimes by the chemtrail activity over my own city.
