Yesterday, on her way to lunch, my wife saw a dense curtain of bees flying across a crowded intersection near Los Angeles. She said she'd never seen anything like it. People were hurrying to roll up their car windows, pedestrians were swatting the air around them, etc.

Are you sure those weren't the Killer Bees, Harry?
Or if truly Honeybees, perhaps they've traveled enmass
to California to get away from the miserably cold temps
in other parts of the US. 8) I sure wouldn't blame them
BTW, the Penny remedy - the penny Has to have copper
in it, or it won't work. It's the copper that draws the stinger.

Originally the penny was made of pure copper. Latter on small amount of tin and zinc were added, to make it wear better and last longer.
Then came the Federal Reserve Bank whose job was to control inflation.
So now a penny is made up of 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper (copper-plated zinc) because if it were made of pure copper the metal would be worth more then its one-cent face value.

I can only tell you that my wife made it out alive.
I suspect that a big hive must have been disturbed at one of the local office buildings. Or, maybe the bees had finally had enough of the film business.
When a beekeeper wants to capture a free swarm of bees, he raps or beats on an empty bee box and the bees will fly into the box. I tried it once. I didn't have a box handy, so I rapped on a tree with a stick and the bees all attached themselves to a limb on the tree. If you stay calm and don't flail at the bees, they will not sting you, assuming they are not killer bees.
Yes, that was one of the items discussed on Coast to Coast
last night, on the Missing Bees topic. It we also mentioned
that even Bumble Bees seen to be in shorter supply too.
Let's just hope and pray that the true reasons can soon
be discovered before it's too late, since Bees are the
primary polinators of most fruits and vegetables around
the world.
Be keepers in European countries including UK are also
suffering losses of their bees are are also searching for answers.
Ledum is another leading remedy for bee sting and I have never had the opportunity to use apis but have used ledum on several occasions with very good results.
Hi, just found this particular forum...looks wonderful!
One thing I wanted to add in here is I'm from Arizona where we have the Horned Toads and they are on the protected species list. But the important thing here is WHY they are dying out. It is in large part to people putting out poison for fire ants. In other words, pesticides. I think that may play a HUGE part in our bees, too. (Not to mention our own health!)
Take Care everyone! I thought this thought is so powerful that I had to register to the forum to note it to you!
