(In Europe) Hundreds of traditional and imported remedies on the shelves of health food shops and herbalists are set to be banned under new licensing rules.
The EU directive aims to protect users from any damaging side-effects that can arise from taking unsuitable medicines.
Only high-quality , long-established and scientifically safe herbal medicines can be sold over the counter
I wonder how many pharmaceutical drugs would pass such draconian retrospective criteria?!
I hear from an insider source that come the spring up to 90% of herbal products currently on sale could disappear from the shelves - and the remaining 10% could double in price.

Health fascism! ( - and you'll be next!)
this draconian measure has been done with Big Pharma in mind! Check out how many people die from prescribed medicines! I prefer nature and am learning to grow my own herbs and veg, I have made my own toothpaste and cough medicine. Much more to learn though! Time to buy what you need NOW before our shelves are empty!

this measure is to further the New World Order Agenda! Codex Alimentarius was created some time ago, and now we are going to see the end of freedom of choice. People have been warned but sadly they are TV Junkies and care not - until its too late. Big Pharma want Big Profits and thats all that matters!
When I was in portugal last month, this guy was telling me there use to be many restaurants where the owner / chef would make their own hot sauce and other things of that nature, but new EU regulations require certain items to be bought from established manufacturers which hurt some of their restaurants.
In the US they have pulled items (ma huang herb) and made regulations on other items (kombucha). there was a brand of kombucha called SYNERGY and its sisiter drink GT. They pulled them last summer because they said they had an alcohol content above 0.5%. I remember a yr ago buying a bottle and forgetting to refridgerate it. I left it in a bag and I went out for the evening and when I returned the bag was all wet, the stuff on warming up shot through the cap. They brought it back, but it is dead as opposed to the previous stuff. I let a bottle sit out for a few hrs and then opened the cap and all I heard was a very faint puff, where the previous stuff if opened at room temp would shoot out like a shaken can of beer.
As I keep saying, the pharmaceutical industry and lobbies are very wealthy and powerful. They have to power to screw up the health reform act and did. And as wealthy as the health insurance companies are, they are no match for the pharms. Neither is the American Medical Association. The congress critters are in the pocket of such powerful lobbies, no matter which party.
They will fight herbal remedies. They will take every avenue to do so.

Lets see many herbal remedies have been handed down for generations but they are not sure if they are safe.
Conversely the bird flu vaccine was tested for only a few weeks and was determined to be safe.
The blatant hypocrisy is mind boggling but I guess we are not supposed to notice that.
Most European countries have always been under a ban from certain herbs and can only get RDA levels of supplements. Its only Holland and Britain who are going to be hardest hit by these new regulations. A lot of herbalists will go out of business.
The irony to all this is that I can see big Pharm moving into the supplements market and becoming market leader! Only a few big name suppliers will remain, so little opposition and the mark up is going to be huge, so big bucks to be made.
