\nI am presently making a big effort to reduce the clutter in my home.

\nOne action I am taking is to clean and store away bedding and clothing that has sat in my closet unused for a while.

\nAfter I wash/dryclean some of the bed covers, comforters, etc. , I don�t want any bugs to take up residence in them. I am now wondering what I can do to prevent this. If I leave the items in the plastic bags they are in from the drycleaners, would that be enough? Should I throw a couple mothballs into the bags? I am pretty sure the items won�t be used for a couple years; I just want to put them away deep in my closet and forget about them.

\nI don�t know much about mothballs (are they even still available? My parents had some when I was little, but I haven�t seen or heard about them since then), so I have additional questions:
\nAre mothballs an effective deterrent against moths only? Or do they also prevent other bugs from setting up residence in your stuff? For example, spiders, ants, bedbugs, etc. If not, any recommendations? Also, regarding bedbugs, would they even be a concern, since there is nothing for them in the back of the closet?

\n(Wild guess here: would a clove of garlic be a good pest deterrent? It seems to be an often-recommended natural way of turning away so many other pests.)\r\n
