Natural Remedies for Alopecia Areata

In most people with alopecia areata, hair usually grows back within a year without any treatment. The following are some natural remedies that have been explored for alopecia areata.
1) Essential Oils

A double-blind, placebo-controlled study examined the use of a combination of essential oils or a placebo oil in 86 people with alopecia areata. The combination oil was a mixture of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedarwood essential oils in a mixture of carrier oils (jojoba and grapeseed). This oil was massaged into the scalp daily. The control group used only the carrier oils for their massage, also daily.
After 7 months, 19 (44%) of 43 people using the essential oil blend showed an improvement compared with 6 (15%) of 41 people in the control group. Although no side effects were associated with the topical application of essential oils, they may cause allergic reactions in some people.

2) Onion Juice

A study published in the Journal of Dermatology examined the effectiveness of onion juice or placebo in people with alopecia areata. Twenty-three people with alopecia areata applied the onion juice twice daily for two months, and 15 people applied tap water twice daily for two months.
People in the onion group began to experience regrowth of hair after two weeks of treatment. At four weeks, hair regrowth was seen in 17 (73.9%) people and at six weeks, hair regrowth was observed in 20 (86.9%) people. Improvement was significantly higher among males. In the tap water control group, hair regrowth was apparent in only 2 people at 8 weeks.

The diet is also important. An anti-inflammatory diet is often recommended for auto-immune conditions as inflammation is always involved with these types of conditions. Including anti-inflammatory herbs or supplements can also be helpful. Eliminating or reducing sugar/processed foods and other junk foods is also very important for healing. Spirulina and chlorella are excellent natural food sources containing many valuable nutrients for healthy hair growth.
Since alopecia areata may be "triggered" by a variety of factors, trying to identify and avoid triggers may be helpful. Try to avoid toxins, pollutants, allergens etc. as any of these can trigger a flare-up.

Natural remedies

Natural and holistic treatments are a gentler yet still effective alternative to treating hair loss than the harsh chemicals found in synthetic over-the-counter and prescription products. Using herbal and homeopathic remedies helps to promote healthy, strong hair and supports circulation, hormonal balance and thyroid functioning.
Carefully selected herbal ingredients such as Ginkgo biloba, Rosmarinus officinale and Xanthoxylum clavaherculis promotes blood circulation which ensures that nutrient rich blood reaches the hair follicles. In addition, Equisetum arvense, Avena sativa and Echinacea also help to stimulate and nourish tiny hair follicles to encourage abundant hair.

I certainly don't know if there is any cure for this... if there is I have not heard of one for this early onset type of hair loss with an auto immune malfunction component.

I will say this though.. I have heard of a number of diseases cured with MMS1 that were considered strictly autoimmune as a cause.

When I was in 7th grade I had an english teacher who had this condition... being the snotty little kid I was at the time I did make fun of him.. and I called him the guiding light because his head shinned.

Be that as it may, he was a very attractive man and an excellent teacher.

I have always thought that men who were selfconscious about their thinning hair or baldness really missed the mark simply because of that self consciousness and insecurity. There is nothing less sexy than a man who insecure with himself.

My husband is bald on top and I will would say that there is not one single insecure hair on his head...... which of course is requried to hang out any length of time with me without going mad.

Your best option for your friend is to support him in being who he is. If you love him as a friend, and he learns to unconditoinally love himself, he will have a great life for that will make him a very energetically attractive person.
