New to alternative medicine, some problems I have / philosophy and ideas about them.
New to the forum, sorry if this is the wrong place for this.
Lately I�ve been getting into health and fitness more and I guess I�ve become more self-aware of my body and the effects of different dietary things. I�ve also noticed that although I would consider myself in good shape at the moment (I do regular beach runs for 30 minutes at a time non-stop (about 6.5km), and I�ve been working a physical job the past 3 weeks), however my stomach seems to stick out a bit. I don�t think it is fat either, because my abs are some-what defined with only a little fat under the skin near my belly button. I�d say its either visceral fat between the organs (I don�t know how that is there since I�m not fat anywhere else) or its bloating of some sort, but I�m open to some ideas as to what it could be. I�m currently 21 and drink alcohol VERY rarely. I say this because it seems like a frequent occurrence in some men to develop �beer bellies� and look like they�re pregnant. I�d like to avoid that.
I�ve had this hunch that my body is naturally pretty poor at being able to remove waste since I�ve generally had infrequent bowel movements. Also since the body has 3 main methods of removing waste products; poop, urination, and the skin, I think my skin has been under a lot of stress. I had very bad skin very early on (severe acne) as young as 13, and have had to go on Accutane for it more than once since it was on my back as well.
Also, I think I have a dodgy thyroid, even though I saw a doctor and they took a blood test recently and thought it was fine. This is because my body seems to over-heat very easily and thus I sweat an insane amount especially during physical exertion. However when it gets cold, I also seem to be sensitive to that as well, like my body is unable to regulate its temperature properly.
I�m not sure if the two are connected, but I have a hunch they are (I do like my hunches). Has anyone had similar things / recommend perhaps some methods to treat them / just has some thoughts they�d like to share?

I guess if I ate a very �pure� (mainly fruit and veg) diet, my body wouldn�t have so much strain on it to remove waste, but in this day and age, it is nearly impossible.
I have also incorporated some better dietary changes a few months back now as well, including eating a lot more fruit and trying to have at least one fresh green juice a day. I seem to have more energy on this but alas it hasn�t done much for the two problems mentioned above.
Perhaps fasting one day a week, maybe on a weekend when I don�t need so much energy, would also help?
Another thing I�m interested in is parasites. I�ve seen youtube videos of this guy �Dr Robert Cassar� idk if some of you are familiar with him? But he seems to think people have a lot of parasites inside them. But I don�t know much about this, and it seems like there is a lot of division on this subject. Someone enlighten me? :P
Anon, welcome to NATMEDTALK. Anything you try will take a month or tow to show positive results, but may I suggest incorporating seaweed in your diet (seweed salas found at Japanese restuarants and many supermarkets) a couple times a week and start eating an apple a day. Also, if you are worried about parasites,m get a good probiotic and take for a month or two.

I haven't heard of Dr. Robert Cassar, but most people living in industrialized nations today have parasites (especially people with infrequent bowel movements), and these parasites can cause just about every disease known to man. After doing what I recommend in the thread I linked to, a good liver + parasite cleanse may be in order for you. After which your problems may very well disappear rather rapidly.
If you want to know more about parasites, read Hulda Clark's books. Many of them are available online for free. Her ideas on diet weren't the best, but she sure did know a lot about parasites and that makes her books very worthwhile to read.
Also, what is your diet like?

Thyroids are generally hyperactive or hypoactive, but not both. You may very well have a thyroid problem, but it's also very likely you have a problem with other organs too, probably the adrenals and possibly others. But the good news is that if you follow my suggestions in this post, and switch to a better diet, your body should be able to overcome these problems easily. The body is designed to heal - left alone it will do that just fine. The problem is that we don't leave our bodies alone, but severely abuse them every day. Health is easy - you have to really work to get sick.

75,000 to 100,000 people under 30 years of age in "good shape" fall over dead each year, most from a mineral deficiency such as selenium, or copper.
You can't see inside your organs or vessels, and you can't rely on diet alone, like the above 100,000 people.

This could be caused by bread, buns, pasta, etc. The only difference between beer belly and bread belly is that one is fermented while the other is baked, however, both have the same ingredients.

Your thyroid can be starving for nutrients and tests will be normal. Not only could you be deficient in iodine, but also other minerals necessary for healthy thyroid, such as selenium, copper, zinc, etc..

Waste removal is important since waste is toxic and should be eliminated on a daily basis. In fact, 2 or even 3 movements per day would be beneficial. This can be aided by taking magnesium and vitamin C, since both act like a laxative in "reasonable" amounts. Mineral deficiency in general could be an issue here.

Anyone who eats meat or dairy on a regular basis has parasites.
The solution is to eat garlic and/or onions on a regular basis as this will kill most parasites while they are microscopic in size and are not mature enough to lay eggs.
There are non-toxic supplements, available in health food stores, that can be used once or twice per year to eliminate parasites if that is a concern of yours. One such product is called wormwood.
There are also several thousand vitamin and mineral supplements on the market as well, some are good while others are not. Most are synthetic and contain "elemental" minerals which are nothing more than ground-up rocks, and these I do not recommend.
I would suggest researching doctor Joel Wallach on youtube as he is well ahead of the curve when it comes to nutrition, especially supplementing with all 60 essential minerals in colloidal form for 98% absorption.
Here is his latest video. It is rather lengthy but well worth the watch, and is nothing like any other health video you've ever seen.

Hmm enemias and colon cleanses seem pretty hardcore. If I just had probiotics, perhaps it would take longer, but would that alone help my digestion system and aka make it faster and easier to digest food if I had more probiotics in my system?
My diet lately, i've been trying to keep away from dairy products actually but i've recently started on them a little. Because i've been having no yoghurt, do you think this could of caused a deficiency in good bacteria?
All those cleanses sound mighty expensive.. How long would you recommend enemas twice a day for? Also have you got a ball park estimate as to how long / expensive would 1 colon, 1 liver and 1 parasite cleanse take to do?

Thanks for the response. What you say makes a lot of sense, in fact I have been eating a lot of bread lately since i've been getting it free from my work. You've talked a lot about mineral deficiencies, I hope I don't have them, since I do take a multivitamin pill nearly every day when I remember. Also, I drink half a teaspoon of spirulina and a teaspoon of coconut oil every day.
Why is replacing sweat with gatorade a bad idea? I do have a drink of gatorade after most rigorous exercises when i've sweat a lot, and it seems to make me recover faster. I haven't had cramping in a long time anyway.
I already take vitimain C tablets actually, but i'll add some magnesium in there too, thanks for the advice.

In fact, I've been thinking that perhaps maybe this bloating was because i've cut back on dairy. I've not been having yogurt, and isn't that supposed to be good for your gut health?

get on iherb.com and look up jarrow probiotics or dr. o'hiras. tea will not be probiotic unless it is real kombucha

Gatorade contains only 2 nutrients while you sweat out 90. Sure it will rehydrate you but will also lower your body mineral reserves.

I'm a bit of a list man so I guess here is an 'example' daily ritual in an attempt to be healthier:
- Glass of spirulina
- Teaspoon of coconut oil
- Green Drink
- Probiotic Drink
- Lemon water
- Bowl of fruit
- Bowl of blueberries
- 1 whole apple
- Seaweed snack
- Multivitamin tablet
- Sungazing
Wow, just saw his lecture. Very cool! Actually this comes at an interesting day - I've been awake for nearly 15 hours straight and have had barely any food (a glass of spirulina in the morning and a small pizza thing from a bakery) and don't feel hungry. It is interesting as I think spirulina has about 65 different nutrients, so that must be doing something. I'll try and get his one though so I have all 90.
I've noticed that when I lay on the grass or go to the beach, even on a really hot day, my body will relax and i'll feel a lot better and not sweat or anything. Do you think this could be due to those environments being nutrient-rich? Living food has talked a lot about the nutrients in grass and weeds etc, and surely the beach would have a tone of iodine in the environment.
Also often I feel agitated, sweaty, and just not nearly as good when I spend time in artificial environments like inside the 3rd story of a building or a bus.

Negative vs positive ions. Natural environments are rich in negative ions, which reduce inflammation, enhance the immune system, give you more energy, etc. Artifical environments, and anywhere near electricity, have massive amounts of harmful, inflammation-promoting positive ions. If you can imagine a health benefit, you can bet negative ions provide it. Likewise, positive ions damage your health in just about every way imaginable.

They are, but you'll never reach the highest levels of health without them. I've seen amazing recoveries from disease when people just do those two things. Do the other cleanses, improve your diet, only drink clean water, and do a few other things, and even dreaded diseases like cancer disappear. Get rid of the causes of disease, and the body automatically heals itself. 4 causes of ALL disease

Probiotics are beneficial, although probiotics alone will never give you the same benefits as colon cleanses + enemas because people have some really nasty...well, shit in there. Also, fermented foods tend to be infinitely superior to probiotics for numerous reasons, so you'll want to make those a part of your diet as well.

It's different for every person. Someone who just wants to get rid of a bloated feeling after eating, won't need as many enemas as someone in the end stages of cancer. But you should always do enemas at least once daily while cleansing or fasting. You mentioned that you have infrequent bowel movements (which is a huge health hazard, albeit a very common one). You'll need to find some way to fix that, as soon as possible. A poor diet is frequently a huge culprit, so is hypothyroidism and dozens of other possible factors. Regardless, you want to be having one bowel movement everyday for every major meal you ate the day before. Avoid all processed foods, especially white flour products. Diary is also very constipating. If your drinking water had fluoride and chlorine, those kill off the good bacteria in your digestive tract as well as causing many serious health problems. Many drugs, stress, and excessive consumption of meat are a few other factors that destroy your beneficial gut flora. Eat only whole, unprocessed foods, and also good amounts of fermented foods. If that doesn't do it, you still need to get the fecal matter out somehow (autointoxication is not pleasant). Enemas are one way to do it, and the talk of them becoming habit-forming is mostly over exaggerated. I talked more about that in the thread I linked to in my initial post in this thread.
But just cleansing the digestive tract well, combined with eating only unprocessed wholesome food and some fermented food, resolves the vast majority of constipation complaints.
As for the cost of doing the cleanses, there are many different price ranges out there. It's the same story for time range - some less intense cleanses take anywhere from a month to multiple months, others can take as little as a few days.
