\r\n \r\n To make a long story short, my wife and I have been obese our whole lives basically, we\'re both in our early 30\'s. Recently we started working out and paying attention to nutrition (detoxing, for example.) We are now on a 100% gluten free natural food vegan diet and we are LOVING it.

\r\nI\'m down 35-40 pounds so far. I\'m actually getting to the lightest I\'ve been since my first year out of college. I\'ve been focusing on healing more than weight loss and it has been having excellent results.

\r\nHowever, the past few days have me a bit scared and I\'m not sure what to make of it. I have been having distant memories resurface and flashbacks, primarily from an extremely rough period of my life when I was around 20. I had problems with my family, went through a really bad breakup, had a major back injury at work, had my identity stolen, and a few other things. It was a rough year.

\r\nI\'m having random memories from this period resurface and I feel like I\'m re-living that year all over again for brief periods of time. I\'d say an hour here and hour there. It\'s very intense to the point I\'m actually trembling and almost crying.
\r\n
\r\nI want to know if this is normal or is there something wrong with me? Or is there a way to get through this a little easier.\r\n

\nWhat you need to keep in mind, is not to dwell on the past. The past is gone, and good or bad, there\'s nothing we can do now to change it, and we waste our time regretting things that were. Those who dedicate too much time to worrying about the future, are also losing precious moments of their lives in the present.

\r\n \r\n When there is a large weight loss with a turning to a more healthier diet there will be a large detoxification as toxins are released from fat cells where they will have been stored. This cellular detox can release a lot of old, and in some cases unresolved emotional memories, which may have triggered wrong types of eating initially.

\nIt is quite common to have these memories with detoxing and my advice would be to conciously forgive anybody who has hurt you in the past, whether they be people who have been close to you, or someone else who has wronged you, as these memories come up. That way you will be not only cleansing the body but the soul as well. If after doing this you still have problems then praying and/or seeking Christian counselling may be helpful.\r\n

Default Retracing Phenomena

To make a long story short, my wife and I have been obese our whole lives basically, we're both in our early 30's. Recently we started working out and paying attention to nutrition (detoxing, for example.) We are now on a 100% gluten free natural food vegan diet and we are LOVING it.
