Thanks for this post Iggy! I've been taking coconut oil, a spoonful a day for many months now, and I've also been giving some to my dog...will not continue this practice if it's inflammatory
Also eat a non-fat yogurt daily thinking it was a good thing, don't want to ingest foods for health reasons if they're causing inflammation!
Some inflammation is good for you. It is the body's response to viral attack, for one thing. Coconut oil is an anti-viral. Maybe that is due to its inflammatory nature. It is helping the immune system to deal with virus and bacteria.
It's a balancing act. Suppressing inflammation during a cold, can perhaps lengthen the duration.

I don't get these ratings. Salmon is strongly anti-inflammatory and coconut oil is strongly inflammatory? Maybe it's the antioxidant astaxanthin in salmon or maybe you're not supposed to look at a food, like an oil, by itself since you don't just eat oil, look at your diet as a whole, but surely there's more to this inflammatory foods thing. Because of this rating system people are not eating eggs because they say they're inflammatory.
This rating shows coconut oil to be strongly anti inflammatory but what I've read shows it to be good for inflammation. It has helped by M-I-L's gout and my sister's dogs itchy skin.
