Default Healthy bread?

Is there healthy bread, I have been diagnosed with some type of IBS and went on a mostly liquid (carrot, barley aloe and others) but it's starting to heal up some and I am getting cravings for real food, is there healthy bread that will not bog down my already slow digestive system? I bought some gluten/sugar free muffins and they seem to be no problem. Funny I am not craving sweets as much as bread...I smelled some yeast rolls and they smelled sooo good....and no I did not have one

Also would a good quality peanut be bad like feridies? I crave protein also, been taking extra denatured whey with my liquid or real meals.

Replace those legumes. Get raw almonds, or walnuts instead. They have excellent nutrition, very tasty and fill you up very well, eat a handful or two as a snack (1oz or 2) and you'll definitely being feeling satisfied for adequate periods of time. Just my suggestion.

Uh usually it's nice to have the 'consciousness of your health's common sense; have a say in this topic. If you are craving something like bread, which is normal because we all know how almost all bread is scrumptious and savory , you should be seriously limiting your intake of these grains. The common sense here is that were eating grains, grains have some nutrition but we don't really need them. Grains like bread, are usually always bad for the dieter, since most bread is processed enough as it is, the bread and your digestive tract are just not best friends. (Anything processed, preserved, unnatural or a food that comes from a box/shelf will most likely mean a mission through the trenches for your digestive system.)

When something is so processed, the fiber is gone, and without fiber, less nutrients, less filling, and keeps you coming back for more (Call it empty calories, empty calories should be heavily moderated for use to eat, because of your digestive system, and they're just not good for you. Have them as treats, and make sure they are safe starches.) Sprouted grain bread is one of the 'healthier' choices, but you could go make your own with coconut flour, as it will be packed with nutrition, isn't seriously 'disliked' by your digestive pals, and it's absolutely delicious. Bunch of recipes out there I say.

Good luck.

They have a variety of "sprouted grain" gluten free breads at the local health food store, are these ok for people with compromised digestive systems?

Well like I said in my post, their isn't such a thing as a 'super bread 'for your digestion. (Digestive health-wise, you should refrain from grains much as possible.) But if it's bread your craving, then Sprouted grain/ Coconut flour are your best bets. They are 'friendly' breads especially for your case, and their very delicious. A great bread 'fix' I say. So yes, they are very ok.

Yes, they are very good for you! You should take advantage of nuts and seeds whenever you can, they provide so many health benefits... I could go on essays about them!

Thumbs up

Thanks for all that info, TC7!

Just to clarify, would frozen gluten-free breads still be bad news in that situation? I'm thinking of rice bread in particular.

Perhaps you should write that essay about nuts. I'd love to know more!

Is there candida overgrowth? These little critters can get you to crave bread and starchy foods. What other "real" food are you craving? I don't know what ferides are but peanuts are high in aflatoxins and aren't worth eating. This fungus has been linked to cancer formations.

It was on the news a few weeks ago that the majority of Americans consume most of their sodium from bread. Personally I was shocked that bread is one of the leaders of high sodium before I saw this report.

I personally eat a wheat pizza once a week, but I honestly don't think there's much healthy about it. I personally think most breads are high in carbs/sugar/sodium and the only thing you can do is select the lesser of the evils and not over eat bread.

I heard this before, right out of the Bible like the Hallelujah diet ...never really got to examine this much less try any. I have read that people make a very good tasting version.
