Hello from TN
Hi everyone!
It has been a while since I was part of a forum, but this seems like a place I need to be. I have rarely had health insurance and always been overweight, so I decided natural health would be a good place to start to try to heal my body and control my weight issues. I have a 7 yo son who I hope to teach natural ways as well. Last September I began to take baby steps toward a new lifestyle and have lost 30 pounds since then. I am eager to learn more and will probably ask a million questions. I have been off colas for about 3 years now and artificial sweeteners and HFCS for over a year. I began following a low carb lifestyle this May to eliminate migraines, I found that potatoes, rice, and grain give me migraines that last for days. Hopefully I'll find that I may reintroduce some grains like quinoa some day.
I have been reading mostly about herbal remedies because that seems most accessible. However I just found out that our local health shop has tons of homeopathic products and knowledge. My son has had far more Hyland's preparations than traditional OTC meds. So far I have not visited any natural practitioners in my area (Knoxville TN). I am trying to figure out how to manage that with limited income and no insurance. I am generally in good health and feeling better each day since changing my eating habits, so I am not needing professional care at this time. It would just be nice to be established with someone when I do need a pro's advice.
For non health related stuff- we homeschool, are Christians (I don't get preachy, don't worry- usually violates the board rules and just not a good witness, IMHO), love to read, and travel a lot with work. We live on the family farm and have access to fresh beef and eggs as well as garden veg. Its a good life.
I'll end my rambling here. Thanks for having me!
