Default Serotonin and Dopamine

I know that these are two critical chemicals in the brain associated with good feelings essentially.

Supplements such as Rhodiola Rosea, 5-HTP, SAM-E and DLPA.... These CREATE Serotonin and Dopamine... correct? Isn't this sort of dangerous to take for an extended period of time because the brain will feel as though... well, I'm getting these chemicals from outside sources, so why make it? So itll stop making so much of it on it's own??

I know that SSRIs and whatnot "rearrange" the serotonin and dopamine in your brain so that your body can use it better etc.

Any opinions on this?

I know for a fact that most of your serotonin is made by the benificial floras in the gut. This is why when people enter into proper nutritional protocols that they often get past depression.

yes, those supplements help in the manufacture of serotonin... but they are not my first choice in dealing with depression

SRRIs are very dangerous drugs and people who use them have metabolic issues and develop worse ones as time goes by while taking them.

The very first things I would do in dealing with depression is use Vitamin D3, B12 and make sure my digestive processes are working right regarding intrinsic factor and stomach HCL, take good probiotics, get off of sugar and usless carbs, get some exercise and look at a systemic daily detoxifier that boosts glutathione levels like protandim.

If necessary I would look into high dosages of Niacin but I would do the others first.
You really want to take things that are natural that will turn on your own hormonal systems.

I, of course would also look at thyroid issues and supplement with iodine if my thyroid was low or not.

Rhodiola Rosea is most powerful in extract form
