Magnesium is good to take daily, very calming.

What dosage of magnesium do you take?

Also, what brand is it that you buy? I've heard that the only place most people buy Magnesium from is GNC. Doesn't mean it's the best, just means it's what the norm has become.

It would be interesting to see how much magnesium you take though, as I have heard people say they take as little as 10mg a day and some as high as 100mg a day.

I've been using Natural Factors Magnesium Citrate, 150mg daily. When I feel it's needed, I take an additional capsule at night.

I'm not one to 'mega-dose' on anything, but will increase my vitamin D3 and C when I feel a treat of cold/flu.

Here's some food sources for magnesium, food is always better than supplements, but sometimes both are needed. https://www.natmedtalk.com/wiki/Magnesium

Besides taking a pill, try to get magnesium from food sources. Take a look at these foods https://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/food...sium-foods.htm

I think first source is food and if you can't then pill, but that's just me.

I personally eat a lot of almonds through the day as a snack, but there isn't a day I don't eat bannanas, brown rice, yogurt, and brocoli

I wanted to report back that Jeremy now is very bright. He had a few days when he was extremely "down" after I first started this thread but suddenly a few days ago all that has changed. He seems to be getting energy and enthusiasm back. It's quite amazing. He had bought himself some good quality magnesium from the health shop plus I bought him some Vit E (really good brand) plus some fish oil capsules. I think he has been taking it all for a week now.

This morning Jeremy had to do what I would call a stressful job for work. He works for our local water authority and he had to shift all the gear needed for a water board exhibition, into one of our local shopping centres. He had to tow a trailer behind him, drive in with the trailer through a relatively narrow electronic double door and weave around such things as automatic teller machines, structural colums, a Muffin Break area and an ice cream/doughnut stand. Seems he handled it well.

Could this be the magnesium etc working???? Please keep your fingers crossed everyone that everything continues on in this direction. For the time being hubby and I are both breathing a little sigh of relief.

Thanks for the update on Jeremy, Jean. So happy he's feeling better! It could absolutely be the magnesium that's helping https://www.natmedtalk.com/f45/23527-...ty-memory.html.

Also, Omega 3 fish oil is know to improve mood. Hope you bought a natural vitamin E, the d-alpha, not the dl-alpha. Great he's improved after only a week, things should be better with time. A healthy diet, exercise and a quality multi-vitamin/mineral combo would be good additions.

I've got the same Vit E here that I'm taking myself so a look on the bottle reveals:

d-alpha-tocopherol, 313 mg (equiv.407 IU)
Tocopherols concentrate - Mixed (high alpha type) 250 mg (equiv.93 IU)
Selenomethionine. 64.5 mcg (equiv. Selenium 26 mcg)

Do you think that is suitable?

It sounds good to me, don't know all the specifics. Mine is an inexpensive Swanson Vitamins brand of Natural Vitamin E, my bottle reads 400IU (as d-alpha tocopheryl acetate).

From what I've read, the mixed tocopherols, like what you're using in the vitamin E is preferred.

Yes. The unbalanced ones can do more harm than good.

Good to hear Jeremy is doing better Depression and anxiety suck. But if the magnesium is working then that's awesome.

Also, just being able to get outside and do something (out of the house) can work wonders in conjunction with the supplements and good diet.

Believe it or not, maybe the complex task at his work helped more than you think. We can get in a rut at work, and always good to have a challenge. (Well, my opinion anyway).
