This is an interesting paper discussing the role of inflammation in depression.
\nSeems to me that restoring the NATURAL anti inflammatory reserves that human DNA evolved with may be helpful for everyone and also help prevent/treat depression.
\nHumans evolved living near naked outdoor lives and under these circumstances the NATURAL vitamin D level is around the 50ng/ml 125nmol/l mark.

\r\n \r\n You can easily see if magnesium is present in vegetables, because the more the magnesium, the greener the veggie.. and have you noticed over the last few years how much paler the green is becomming?

\nWhen I was a kid, celery was a very dark green, as was broccoli and carrot tops... and now they look alot lighter .

\nThe next time you are in the supermarket, look at the celery. They will be several shades of green, and I would suggest buying the darkest green ones..

\nRegarding inflammation, most disease is associated with inflammation, however this is a symptom not the cause. After all, something has to cause the inflammation...either as a body defence mechanism, perhaps an organism or mycotoxin, or an allergic reaction, etc., however all can be traced back to a deficiency of an essential nutrient.

\r\n \r\n When I was diagnosed with Crohn\'s Disease I accidentally cured my depression.
\r\n
\r\nI started taking Krill Oil, Ginger, and Larger doses of Turmeric to quell the inflammation associated with the disease. A few months later my wife said "you have not had any depression lately". She always knew first when I was going into a funk. I thought about it and realized I never had gone a month without depression since I was a teenager. Since I was forty something at the time, that really was unusual.

\r\nLater experimentation indicated that the Krill Oil was the one supplement that really made the difference. I think the lack of Omega 3 Fatty Acids was most of the problem but inflammation likely played a role also. One supplement turned my life around. I only wish I would have discovered that about thirty years earlier.

\nI am looking to purchase some omega3s today from biotics research since I have to reorder my D3. (I read somewhere that fish oil is over processed?)

\n I feel it\'s important to mix them up a bit tho, so as not to have a wonky ratio.

\nI have been hearing much about tuna in the oils, lately. I thought tuna was the baddy as far as mercury goes.

Indeed but humanity evolved in East Africa where sunlight 12 hrs daily (vitamin d production) is from dawn to dusk and Nightime (melatonin secretion) 12 hrs daily is from dusk to dawn.

\r\nHumanity living naked outside in daylight and without electric light at night had much higher levels of 25(OH)D and melatonin compared to most humans now.

\r\nAll their meat and fish was wild caught free range organic so higher in omega 3 than most modern meat/fish.

This is an interesting paper discussing the role of inflammation in depression.
Seems to me that restoring the NATURAL anti inflammatory reserves that human DNA evolved with may be helpful for everyone and also help prevent/treat depression.
Humans evolved living near naked outdoor lives and under these circumstances the NATURAL vitamin D level is around the 50ng/ml 125nmol/l mark.

Activating vitamin D3 requires the presence of MAGNESIUM. Modern intensively industrially produced foods contain less magnesium than just 50 yrs ago. Most adults get less than half the Magnesium RDA. Most would benefit from 100mg magnesium with each meal and before bedtime.

While human DNA was forming and evolving to modern humans ALL the food we consumed were free range organic. The major difference between grass fed pastured meats is their higher omega 3 status and lower omega 6 levels. If we want to restore our anti inflammatory reserves improving omega 3 levels with fish oil or other marine sourced omega 3 alongside a reduction in the amount of omega 6 rich meats and vegetable/seed/grain oils is required.

Human DNA is set to produce 10,000iu of the anti inflammatory Vitamin D3 from dawn to dusk (given full body non burning UVB exposure) and from DUSK TO DAWN it's set to produce the anti inflammatory hormone MELATONIN. There is much that can be done to improve sleep hygiene to maximise melatonin production. f.lux: software to make your life better
