I never had that monkey on my back Saved, but from all I hear about FB...good for you!
I have a friend about to get separated because her hubby is sick of her and her face in the iphone every waking moment of the day. I hate to say it, but I agree with him.

I don't like it when I'm with a friend and she's constantly checking her iphone. I might as well not be there.
Facebook is nice when I'm super bored and don't feel like reading or doing anything productive; I do love facebook when I reach out to someone and we connect and private message each other. Otherwise, if I'm looking for gossip or to check out other people's profile because I'm curious - total waste of time.
I enjoy keeping up with family, except during election cycle. Other than my California and NY friends, everyone is a wanabe preacher. I don't know why they have to preach to everyone every day. Seems like they are preaching to preachers.
"Wanna be preachers" oh dear, I hope that's not how I come across because I'm always sharing about health-topics.
Just today I realized you can search for groups that are of interest to you and you'll receive the information from them. For example, Dr. Mercola or NaturalNews is on there so the info. goes right to your feed to read.
I feel bad, but I'm considering blocking old highschool friends that I have nothing in common with anymore who I wasn't even close with in the first place. On the other hand, what if there is a health-related article that changes their health to the positive? What to do?
The FIRST thing I did on facebook was to shut off that annoying chat box
Everytime I tried to read my newsfeed or any of the groups I added, people were trying to chat left & right lol
The private messaging is more like emailing someone rather real time replying, so that gets used quite a bit.
My problem is keeping the friend's list trimmed so I'm able to keep up with conversations.
I love facebook though. It's a fun way to connect even though I'm not on it more than a few minutes daily unless I'm reading in groups.

I didn't know you could turn that off, Cookie. I wish there was a way to hide if you're online or not. Sometimes I haven't responded to a message and I see the person who sent it is online and they can see I'm online.
I cut down mentioning health issues, no one listens anyway
Oh man, they DON'T but then I'll PM someone and they'll say, "oh by the way, I like your health information." Yet, not once did they acknowledge it on facebook. Last night, I did an extensive search for groups of like-minded people and now it'll come along my newsfeed. It's awesome!

You mean all this time I thought I was invisible everyone knew I was ignoring them? hahahaha
Naw, i think if you turn your chat box off & you don't 'like' or post anything in the open, nobody can tell you're online.
This post inspired me to make some changes with my facebook. Now it is nearly filled with information on topics I'm interested in. I've taken most of the people I don't interact with off my news feed. Now when I go to facebook, I'm learning instead of reading posts that are meaningless to me. You can search for topics on the top and click "like" to receive that information in your news feed.
