Arrow Breast Cancer Decisions

Breast cancer (BC) patients and survivors throughout the world are embracing complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) as an adjunct to conventional treatment. Recent surveys conducted in Malay, Taiwan and the United States indicate that more than half of women with BC use one form or another of CAM.

Nutritional supplements such as echinacea, garlic, ginkgo and multivitamins topped the list in the US. In Malay, evening primrose oil, spirulina and Vitamin C were most popular. Taiwanese breast cancer patients primarily used acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. In many instances, the impact of CAM modalities in combination with conventional cancer care isnt well known.

Whats more, its not uncommon for doctors to be unaware that complementary therapies are being used at all. This leaves the door open for unexpected and potentially unwelcome interactions. The key to preventing this is a more open exchange between patient and physician.

Next week I'll be going to a conference for alternative cancer treatments. Many clinics from Mexico will be represented including Gerson. I'll come back and post what they say. It is a sad state of affairs when there are so many ways to tackle cancer throughout the world that our brothers and sisters are using but we in America will have only one recognized system: radiation, chemo, and surgery and to think there is another way is thought of as heresay. Big sigh....

In Tiawan I bet acupuncture and herbs is the primary treatment and chemo, radiation is alternative...

Interactions between drugs and supplements? we should all be afraid of that?
Any clear indications that certain drugs and supplements don't mix? There are only a very few that I know of.

I have a new friend who's daughter has breast cancer, She in on year three with only alternatve methods and is doing well. Cancer is not gone but is not getting worse.

I Have made up my mind that if I should get BC which I am determined I'm not going to get despite my mum having had it.
The only thing now is that I think I will cancel the yearly mamograms that I have been having as well, as I have read where they can actually give you cancer, and are not 100% in picking up cancer anyway, and they hurt.
Here in Aus if there is a family history of BC, you can have free mamograms from the age of 50.

Wise decison Ozzie. I hope you have looked into supplementing with Lugol's iodine for further protection.
If you ever find a lump that you are worried about go straight for the sonogram and continue to forget the mammogram. Often just from the sonogram they can tell if further investigation is necessary.

Here's a very good site regarding breast cancer alternatives. https://www.breastcancerchoices.org/index.html

Check out the connection with iodine therapy. https://www.breastcancerchoices.org/iodineindex.html

I am new on here .. My sister had a stage 1 breast tumor removed within the past few weeks. She then went to a doctor as she sometimes had some pain in sitting and was told she has "hard ovaries" so she has to have those checked out. According to what I heard from my mother (second hand) there was something that if she has ovarian cancer, she would have to have both breasts removed. This doesn't quite sound right to me, but I get alot of stuff from Mike Adams the health ranger, Dr Leanard Coldwell and so on and have gotten kind of skeptical of the medical establishment ..

Great Links jfh.

Im not sure about that deal with cancer in the ovaries - to cut off the breasts.

I do know that with some cancers they have a tendency to spread in very specific directions, for instance, lung cancer has a high statistic to spreading to the brain...
breast cancer goes to to the bone.

I suggest that she get on iodine supplementation right away, as iodine mitigates the negative effects of estrogens, that are often behind breast cancer, and since ovaries are hornomally affected, I will assume the effects of estrogens on ovaries also.

anyway, iodine supplementation is known to help with ovarian cysts. The links jfh gave a couple of posts up are exceptional. They give everything she needs to know.

she can purchase lugols iodine here: www.herbhealers.com

and if it were me I would take it orally and put it on topically right over the ovaries also.

Quote from link above:

Research suggests that some breast cancers may be an
iodine deficiency disease.

As iodine consumption has gone down, breast cancer rates have gone up. But
the research goes far deeper, exploring the effects of iodine supplementation
on
breast disease and breast cancer. This important breakthrough has been in
the
research
pipeline for years but only recently found momentum. After sifting
through 50 years of iodine research and corresponding with researchers
around
the world, the editors report that abnormal iodine metabolism, due
either to
bromide dominance in the environment or a dietary deficiency of iodine, must be
addressed as part of a preventive and or a therapeutic strategy.

Iodine Deficiency Growing Worse

  • Iodine consumption by Americans has dropped 50% since the 1970s as breast
cancer rates have risen (1). In the US Goiter Belt, where iodine in the soil is
  • lower, breast cancer is higher (2).

  • By contrast, the incidence and severity of breast cancer are less in Japan than
  • in Europe and the US, attributable to the diet (3). Japanese women consume 25
times more dietary iodine than North American women and have lower breast
    cancer rates (4).

  • Meanwhile, since the 1970s, in the US and several other countries, iodine-
blocking bromides have been added to flour, some sodas, and medications,
    exacerbating the iodine deficiency.

  • Fluoridated drinking water also depletes iodine absorption. Thus, as women
  • consume less iodine and excrete more due to toxic elements, our risk for breast
    cancer grows(5).
  • I would be willing to bet that most breast cancer can be traced back to a vitamin / mineral deficiency. I would further bet Vitamin D and Iodine would be the top two deficiencies to cause most cancers because if D3 and Iodine protect from breast cancer, they also protect from prostate cancer, lung cancer, blood cancers, and so on.

I surmise that we are deficient due to paranoia in the medical community. Bakers used to put iodine in bread. Then they instead put bromide in bread and flour. So far, there are only 2 brands of bread in the USA that specifically label the bread with "no bromates", but still do not add iodine.

In Japan, all people consume iodine in large quantities. 12mg daily is what has been determined. That means children, adults, pregnant women, infirm, etc.

Iodine is a good chelater of fluoride. When we stopped consuming iodine, were were inundated with with its sister halogens - chlorine, bromine, fluorine.

Thank you Arrowwind for the tips, can you please tell me is Lugol's the brand name of the Iodine? and do you get it from a chemist store or a healthfood store?

Ive never seen it in a healthfood store. Initially I purchased from a Lab supply company as they use it for staining biological samples for microscope work. Maybe at a chemists store...

then I got it from the above link... really they are the best price I've found too.

You can also get it from https://www.jcrows.com/iodine.html He's been selling for years. Very trustworthy.

The 5% Lugol's contains 6.5mg iodine/potassium iodide per drop.

Lugol's is a formula, not a brand.

If you want to use what the clinical trials used, then Google Iodoral. Here's one https://www.amazon.com/Iodoral-12-5-m.../dp/B000WG3FU4

Iodoral was used in clinical trial, because it provided an exact measurement. One tablet contains 12.5mg.

US daily recommendation is 150MCG. You will be taking much more than that. You will be taking the equivalent of the daily Japanese diet of iodine.

I also made that decision. Actually, if you are on Iodine supplements, you should not have any problems that way.
