The store owners believe it is the heat. Apparently she is quite old. She does have to get up a lot as people come into the store. She must not mind it, as she wags her tail and seems happy to greet people. She just doesn't want people to step over her, just in case they miss. After all, it is a surprise to most that there is such an obstacle right at the entrance. No way to get around it.
