Default Taurine?!

I've been away from the forums for a while, but I felt the need to come back to post this. Let's just say...The way I felt the past two weeks compared to the way I've felt almost my entire life is entirely different. I started ingesting Taurine and noticed results immediately. The only reason I knew about it was because I was told to give my ferret food that was fortified with Taurine. So, it really wasn't for any reason that I started using it...just kind of random thing. I didn't think I was Taurine deficient or anything...until I noticed the effects it had on me.

The first day, I noticed that I got extremely clear-headed and I could focus...I noticed because I driving 500 miles that day and I never had to stop for highway hypnosis, which never happens. I felt all fatigue leave me and when I arrived at my destination, I was still focused and feeling good.

So this just continued for two weeks and I just kept feeling better and better... I mean, to the point where I never even realized that I had been as anxious, fatigued and twitchy as I was...

So I started reading article after article on Taurine. There is not too much info on Taurine Deficiency, mainly because nobody really thinks it is a problem because most believe that everyone manufactures enough Taruine in their bodies. But most of the symptoms matched mine. What struck me most is when I started reading what Taurine treats...and many of these disorders and symptoms matched things I have experienced. The thing is, I didn't even realize that I had some of those symptoms until I started realizing that I had been without them (or they significantly decreased) in the last two weeks!

I feel like I can concentrate at work and I have much more motivation to exercise. I don't feel drained when I get home from work. I also notice that my body just feels calmer, not so jumpy. I feel like I can react to stress triggering events with much less strain on my nerves and emotions.

The more I think, the more I am coming to understand the importance of Taurine and the more I am starting to believe that Taurine Deficiency may be a serious problem among more of the population than we think!

Taurine has been shown to improve and possibly even cure heart arrhythmias. It's also known to strengthen the heart muscle and aid in CHF...Oh yeah, and it appears to be extremely effective at lowering blood pressure. It also has amazing neurological balancing effects, which are linked to the arrhythmias. With this said, wouldn't it be very important to know if you are Taurine deficient? Yeah, well, it sure is not studied much and is nowhere near becoming a mainstream medical concern. So really, if you're struggling with heart problems and spending your life's savings on drugs and treatment that are having only minimal effects, if you found out about Taurine, you could maybe be cured quickly and easily!!

Another reason I thought of myself as Taurine deficient is becasue of the foods I usually crave. I am a firm believer that our bodies tend to crave certain foods due to a nutrient that we need in those foods. So, Taurine is in meats, fish, eggs and yeast in bread, all of which I am always wanting to eat.

I don't want to go into the "symptoms/disorders" I had before Taurine, since it is my right to privacy...But I definitely believe that I needed it for a very long time. I do plan on studying this. It's more than just interesting...It's important!

Thank you for reading!!

That is so good to know and good to hear from you again. I have been using taurine with magnesium. I find it helps me relax. Even better than melatonin. Although I do take melatonin for other benefits too.

I haven't found it to help with blood pressure. Nothing seems to work for me. Not even hibiscus or beet root powder or niacin. Dang. I'll research more of the taurine relationship with BP. Maybe I'm taking it wrong.

Well I will tell you that I can't boast about Taurine and BP from my own experience, because BP has never been an issue for me. But I've read about it in many places. I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone. Taurine relieves stress and relaxes blood vessels, therefore dropping BP. But if you have high BP because of something totally different, then it might not work for you...Just a thought.

Yes Kelly. I know. There are a couple of zillion reasons for high BP. Wouldn't it be a surprise if something a cheap a taurine worked for me and others?

One thing to remember is that the amino acids are acids. It is best to take them on an empty stomach. Maximum benefit. No alkaline foods would be present. So of course, I don't take the magnesium at the same time. Magnesium is a buffering agent.

OK So I'm reading up on the procedures and drugs used to treat arrhythmias and I'm blown away by the "jumping to treatments" instead of finding the cause... Well, most drugs that supposedly "treat" arrhythmias can actually cause arrhythmias!! Scary...and even scarier is ablation and installation of a pacemaker. Wouldn't it suck to go through a procedure that kills part of your heart if you don't have to? The thing is, nobody seems to really check for Taurine Deficiency after diagnosing an arrhythmia. I think we can all see the trouble with that. I'm coming to believe that this is a very common yet undetected cause of arrhythmias, thus putting people through unnecessary therapy.

Another interesting find is that Taurine plus L-Arginine has even better results than just Taurine alone....hmmmm....interesting!

Sorry I didn't see this post!

Actually, at first, I got it from Red Bull. But now I get 500mg tablets from a supplement store. You can't get it from a typical drug store...They actually won't even know what it is! But I don't take "doses" because I am experimenting with myself. So I crush it into a powder and sprinkle a little on my food occasionally throughout the day. I'm still in the experimental stages, so I can't really tell you how much is useful just yet.

I know it's odd and most people wouldn't recommend doing it this way, but I want to figure out what makes me feel the best, because nobody has really studied it to tell you how much you need.

Kelly, taurine is an amino acid. Even though amino acids are found in food, the optimal way to use them are on an empty stomach. They will have no competition this way.
